Re: sending out Demo's!!??

do you normally email it or send it by post? depends on what the person u r sending it to asks for. most ppl specify how they r (and r not) willing 2 accept demos (check their websites, and email em to ask if they dont state a preference). and tbh most ppl dont like either of these options anymore,...

Re: Weird equipment

That will be a very expensive high pass filter ! (and low pass filter too) You may end up making very thin Dubstep tunes with anything that has a cassette in it. You will get 50Hz-13kHz back. And it might be a bugger getting thinks back in time again when you re record back into your DAW ( i.e. sna...

Re: How to Make Burial Style Beats

The only people that will throw about accusations are the same people who, while everyone else is dancing away in a club, will refuse to dance to a tune opting instead to stand still talking to the person next to them about how the tune uses Massives brutal electro patch or whatever the fuck you pe...

Re: Weird equipment

Check out Coleco he uses tape for his drums as do countless other ppl. tbh there's absolutely nothing "weird" about this equipment at all. not saying dont use it, just that if u really want soemthign thats different to what everyone else is doing then running to tape and using a couple of...

Re: How to Make Burial Style Beats (Computer Music Guide)

The moaners are too busy moaning about those people copying other producers that it's starting to look like they won't make it anywhere because they're too busy moaning, no time for tunes... this is just a music forum cliche. it takes 2 minutes to post a decent moan :) still, like u say, not really...

Re: How to Make Burial Style Beats (Computer Music Guide)

the "nothing new under the sun" argument is a cop out. burial nicks bits and pieces but on a whole, the sound is new, if familiar. there's a big difference between inspiration and copycats blatantly attempting at being something they are not /thread yeah, this. i been keeping quite for a ...

Re: How to Make Burial Style Beats

you can't accuse anyone of copying some other producer because they use the same sample. It's what they do with it that matters. completely agreed...so lets see if all the burial copyists come out with something of their own. so far i'm not impressed. but i'm sure someone will come along and surpri...

Re: How to Make Burial Style Beats (Computer Music Guide)

when did burial copyright rain samples? people were always sampling weird shit and putting it into their tunes to add "atmosphere". of course. and u r free to do what u want. but if u r already trying to rip off his loose post-2step beats, and then u go and stick some rain over it (and so...

No. It added interest to Burial's tracks. To your tracks it will only add accusations of copying Burial.

Re: Go Free or Go for Profit?

u made 400 this week, or u got paid 400 this week? what time period was that money for?

i really think its unlikely anyone even covers their expenses (computer, hardware, plug ins, mastering, samples whatever...) these days just from sales, royalties etc.

Re the first post. I'm not so sure that people discount free tunes. i'm not sure either. well, actually, i'm sure some ppl do. cos ive seen ppls reactions to this b4. but what i'm unsure about is if those who dont value free tunes are a majority or not. really no idea. but i think i prefer to assum...

Re: Go Free or Go for Profit?

yeah, do both then. unless u've only got like 1 decent tune, its not an either/or situation: put some out on free netlabels, some out on commercial labels. and bare in mind that one advantage that releasing on an established label can bring is increasing your own reputation just by being associated ...

Re: Go Free or Go for Profit?

i'm in the same situation (only with less money and probably more time for beats). i think the "free or profit" thing is not an accurate reflection of the reality of the music industry right now. we dont really have this choice, cos i doubt u'd make any money even if u did decide to go the...
