/\ /\ /\ /\ :o I apologise for getting on your tits something chronic. My original question was posed because I did not understand why there was such a big difference between the best (audio) quality and the worst quality mixes on Barefiles. I thought it may have something to do with the download pr...

Poor audio quality on barefiles.com

Some of the mixes I have downloaded from barefiles.com suffer from poor audio quality. Sometimes the sub bass distorts, and sometimes there's just lots of crackley shit all the way through. Where does this come from? Is it present in the file, or is it something to do with the download process? I ha...

15 years and countin' will NEVER eat meat again (excepting climate change Armageddon or something). Started eating fish when I started going to the gym, gotta get protein somehow. But as far as eating the belly of a cow or pig again, there's no going back for me.

^^^^ all the MPCs are very stable (4000 was a bit buggy on release but ok now). Whether it crashes or not has nothing to do with onboard RAM size. You'll be fine with 128. I've got 128 in my S5000 and it's plenty.

The smoking ban is already in force in Scotland. All that happens is people step outside to have a puff, no probs. And you don't have too keep a lookout for any over eager bouncers.

Spend as much money as you can on monitors. The Mackies and Dynaudios mentioned above are good choices. Regarding monitoring levels, you can easily knock things into shape at moderate volumes but you will have to check everything now and again at a higher volume. Best wait till your neighbours have ...

To all those people who are saying 'but this is a music forum, why talk about politics?', navigate to the dubstep, or production, or releases sections where there is plenty music related talk going on. I like the way this forum has developed, and I was hoping an off topic section would be added. Nic...

If the guys at bassdrive want to put music in little boxes and call theirs "24/7 drum and bass", let them get on with it. I don't put music in little boxes, I put it in my ears, and in my heart, and in my soul. We don't need any dubstep evangelists going on a fundamentalist dubstep crusade...

I don't understand why you guys are suggesting that the MPC has problems with MIDI timing when using it to control external hardware synths. It's probably going to beat any PC-based system hands down. Hardware all the way!

Sampling complete melodies - rip-off or fair game?

I've been going into a bit of a dubstep overdrive over the past week, after discovering barefiles that is! One thing that struck me about most of the big tunes is that they don't rely on any samples (at least I think they don't, maybe my knowledge of the genre means I'm missing something). This stri...
