Re: Stereo Vocals - Opinions and advice

Re: Stereo Vocals - Opinions and advice

ah right- I don't want them in mono at all really, but I've got the impression that it's kinda useful for a mix to work when played back in stereo AND mono. I've just heard (repeatedly) that a lot of club soundsystems play back in 2 x mono rather than in stereo. So if the vocals are a lot quieter in...

Stereo Vocals - Opinions and advice

(I couldn't find anything relating to this exact q, so sorry if there's a thread already) I'm remixing a mate's tune at the moment. They've recorded the vocals in stereo with two (different) mics. On my mix when I mono it, the vocals disappear a bit losing a lot of their volume and power. I've tried...

Re: Dubstep at summer festivals

The Big chill has been bought out by Festival Republic and judging by last year will be a bit more bass orientated in future . As well as possibly mysteriously featuring random America Country stars (Phil Vassar) that just happen to be in the country. (!?)

Re: Hyperdub slacking with releases

But I really like that Funkystepz tune. And the Ill Blu one.

Re: Is this song dubstep?

I might be going mad here, but surely there are a few clues; wrong tempo, wrong beat, no shuffle, not much in the way of sub, mixed with a different audience in mind plus, on top of all of that it's a kind of breaks-esque house tune. so no, it's not dubstep. Is dubstep a broad church - yeah. You coul...

Version of "From the Drop Wiley" from Seb Chew's show 25/10?

heard this version of MJ Cole/Wiley's "From the Drop" which sounds a little bit like it's been bootlegged with a Pulse X-esque bassline or similar and a bunch of sirens.... anyone got any clues? about 45 mins into this; http://relay.exequo.org/rinsefm/podcast/SebChew251010.mp3 EDIT - the l...

Re: whats next for dubstep

whilst he's kinda wrong about it mirroring d'n'b exactly (the internet made it spread internationally much quicker for a start) and he seems to be writing about it from a very US point of view... I think he does have a point of sorts.... The Magnetic Man album and the first few chart hits will proba...

I think it's in this too though?

haven't checked properly as I don't have realpleyer installed here, but I remember it from this I think - I guess the dubstep warz bit is sampled from it if I'm right... or I'm talking nonsense. It has been known.

Re: whats the deal with white labels?

Also - it's kinda in the copyright owners interests to let this underground white label/bootleg industry exist - to an extent at least - because once in a while a record will get on a TV advert with an uncleared sample or something.... at which point the copyright owner will suddenly be far more int...

Re: whats the deal with white labels?

thanks for the replies...valid points all around. the only thing i still don't really get is how the copyright owners don't have the ability/desire to sue whoever is pressing the records and selling them to shops...i mean...SOMEONE is making money off em... well....500 copies, only being sold throu...
