Re: the mover
nice one! i'm glad someone remembers him! definitely an inovator as far as getting really dark goes. The Movers' stuff is amazing. Dark as fuck. Frontal Sickness pt 1 & pt 2 on PCP are sick. yeah those albums are still good listening even minus the nostalgia factor! my personal favourite was &qu...

I reckon what they used was more like this: Lydkraft Tube-Tech SMC2B - a multiband compressor. With this, and it´s often used at mastering studios, you can apply compression at different threshold to bass, mid and top. I tried it when cutting a dub at Planet Phat in London way back in 2002, and it ...

salvia is like the crack of hallucinogens - from nought to full on mushroom style trip in about 10 seconds. be sure someone is there to take the bong off you, you might end up just dropping it on the floor. it is the only thing to ever make me hallucinate (and up until now my hallucinogenic maximum ...

Say if you're just working on a sub tho (for which less definition is necessary), is compression not useful to give a stronger, more even response across the frequency range, therefore giving a more even result when using multi-note patterns? good point, though you could do the same thing with eq a...

the mover
Does anyone who posts on here like "the mover"? the first time i heard any dubstep it really reminded me of his stuff from around '94 and some of the "cold rush records" releases (not so much the beats, their stuff was more 4 to the floor, but definitely a similar vibe). their mo...

One major difference tho, is that now it is much much harder to make money from music. Therefore there is less bandwagon jumping just to make a quick buck. In the hayday of house/jungle/late nineties D+B, people could make a bit of money out of a good tune. These days you're lucky to cover your cos...

i've listened to both and i swear that the sony MDR-V150 use the same drivers as the above model, but they cost about £15 (even cheaper on ebay - new of course! secondhand cans? eeew!) i've used em for everything (writing/monitoring/mixdown) for years. surprisingly flat and accurate for cans. alrigh...

i remember reading an interview with photek in about 97/98 and he was saying that the early rave/house scene was very varied as far as the music went because it was essentially a small scene, so it needed to have lots of different elements (ie fluffy ambient tunes, hardcore bassline tunes, vocal tun...
