Good point.

If they don't give a damn about copyright law, then what makes you think they're above credit card fraud?

True- you could debate that most of the artists on there have loadsamoney and this helps get their art out there to people that otherwise wouldnt buy the CD, perhaps it encourages more fans who will buy the CD's at a later stage. And perhaps the money goes to provide Russian children with food rath...

I think the debate with regards to free downloads - i.e. obtaining music without rewarding the artists for their work - is open to some extent.

However, Russian websites actively making money of other people's hard work is another story.

Even if it's not illegal it's probably ethically unsound.

I think that's kind of the point with both Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly.

They're supposed to depict a dream world and a drug-induced haze, respectively.

Finished: A Scanner Darkly

Now reading: The Business by Iain Banks

The amount of reading you get through with 30 minutes each way on the tube every day is phenomenal.

You're not going to get really sick bass out of an MPC.

You need a VA synth.

Or a ludicrously expensive proper analogue synth.

If you don't know anything about computer music, you'd be well advised to start off with something like FruityLoops or Reason. I'd recommend Reason, but it's worth giving both a go - different strokes for different folks. Where Reason is quite good is it gets you used to the basic concepts of produc...

Install Daemon Tools. You can then mount the iso file as a virtual CD (or DVD) drive on your system.

i think the copyright gives you 13 seconds or something ^_^ That's a myth. Technically any amount of anything sampled needs to be cleared before you can use it legally. However, in practice you will get away with it unless you're likely to shift more than a few thousand units. Test case: Si Begg vs...

320kbps mp3 is perfectly adequate to cut to a dub. Unless you had pristine quality needles, a perfect signal chain, and studio quality monitors to listen to it on, and almost superhuman hearing, then you're not going to notice any difference between a 320 mp3 and a wav. Anyone who says they can tell...
