Re: buying a mbp... advice?

Buy the base model and do all the upgrades yourself. The longer you wait to do it, the cheaper it will be. It will probably run fine out of the box. If you know someone who works for Apple, ask them to hook you up with a discount.

Re: New MacBook Pros and Thoughts on Lightpeak/Thunderbolt..

http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/ Do you think any audio equipment manufactures will jump on this? And will there be any tangible benefits, aside from the increased I/O bandwidth? http://www.intel.com/technology/io/thunderbolt/index.htm On Intel's page about ThunderPort they have quotes from: AJA, A...

Sorry to post a YouTube link, but this first episode is pretty cool. Only streaming for 2 weeks from the date it was posted so watch it in HD before you have to find it elsewhere.

Re: Using tape as an effect

I recently mod'ed a cassette player for a friend who uses them a lot in his production. I'll see if I can get a sample of his work and post it up here, very interesting effects come out of that walkman. Ok, here is the track. It's by a producer named Citymouth from Portland. This track is from a fo...

Re: Play realtime beats with crossfader

Herrmutt, I love what you are doing here. I have been reading and watching your posts lately on the monome boards, good stuff, very interesting. Watching your videos is fun, definitely more of a live performance than a boring dj set. Keep it up, I want to start playing with MaxforLive as soon as my ...

Re: Using tape as an effect

Does anyone know if it is possible to use video tape and a VCR for a similar effect? I would assume that you could but I don't know how it would sound... any thoughts? Absolutely! Anything is possible, it all depends on what you are trying to accomplish. I believe the audio track on a standard vhs ...

Re: ATTN: Grid based music controller performers

pm me if interested. I'm currently doing custom setups, typically ~64 with options for a couple extra buttons or rotary knobs. Clone based on Arduino microcontroller. Sparkfun or Livid buttons, custom cnc (shopbot and laser cutter) face plate and enclosures. I do not have the time to do 256 clones....

Re: anyone done djm 500 repairs

I don't think you need to do any soldering to replace a fader. Just open up the mixer and there should be a connector that the fader attaches to the board with. Unplug it and plug in the new fader.

Don't be so hard on JP, life's hard when you have to snort your blow from a rental car instead of a limo.

Re: Secret Ninja Movie Club (aka what have you watched latel

I watched this last night, it's streaming on Netflix. It's a documentary about Joaquin Phoenix quitting being an actor to pursue a rap career. Some say it's a hoax, I think it might just be his way of saying I fucked up and "I'm Still Here." I would recommend it. http://cdn-0.nflximg.com/e...

Is there a classified section on this forum? I have a buttload of old dnb rekkids from 96-02 that I would like to sell. I just don't know if there is a used market for old vinyl these days. PM if you want to see the list.
