Re: Some noobs just asked me if Joker is "any good"

Someone asked me about joker and purple wow was all about and I told them that prince had the patent on purple and I stopped going wow after about his third release when I realised that all his tunes were going to sound the exact same  Agreed, up to a certain point. Although his tracks don't ...

drum and bass is dying, due to the fact that it's very fast and it's quite hard to blend it with some other styles, especially rhytmic ones... ant it's pretty old now so a big new thing in dnb could save it, but i don't think it'll happen.. dubstep is fluctuating around 140 bpm, and there so much s...

Difficult call for me but I'd have to go for dubstep. Drum & Bass was the most exciting thing happening in UK music from '93 to around '97 or '98 and then tailed off pretty sharpish. There have been some good releases in the genre since then but the scene has generally lacked imagination. Dubst...

Both are great and you can't really ever say one is better than the other as it's just art. What you can state is that dubstep hasn't even got close to having a back catalogue as diverse and jawdropping as jungle. As an indicator, just compare the number of 5* albums between the two. The gulf is huge.

You can kinda understand why people don't get it. The vast majority of dubstep being churned out now is pretty turd tbh.

People don't have the time or the patience to dig through and find the interesting bits.

Ok, fair maybe I jumped to conclusions there. Regardless, I have to dig equally as deep for decent dubstep these days. What that says about the creativity of the scene there I'm not sure.

I don't mind looking though as long as there's good stuff to be found!

Syhr. I completely disagree, but can't be bothered to get into this discussion again. Needless to say the way people dismiss d&b as a spent force is a tad irritating. And I really don't believe you've dug deep enough to comment on this, particularly as you lump all producers from this genre into...
