GJO says HI

I've just put up my new myspace page.

Theres only one tune on there right now. "Kill Stevie"

It's not dubstep but a few techniques are in it that are sometimes discussed here.

Have a listen and feel free to ask me how any of it was done.

The link is in my sig.

For anyone who wants to sidechain in Cubase, search for "sidekick vst" in google. It's free. You insert one instance of the plugin on the keytrack and one instance on the track that is to be ducked by the keytrack.

When I mix, the kick is not the lowest frequency sound in the mix.
I often cut out everything below 80hz on the kick. Sometimes boosting around 250-350hz makes the kick stand out well without popping small speakers like in a car.

Normally the bass is the lowest thing in my mixes.

Thats one of the reasons I stopped using zt3a. I use V-Station now which allows you to sync stuff to a key so the cycle starts at the beginning of every key stroke. Now I don't use zt3a I realise how complex it is to do some of the simplest things in that synth. It's a bit long in the tooth now too....

I gave up on Reason years ago. I bought Reason 1 when it came out. I had Reason up to 2.5. I can't really believe that the main issue with people is vst support. You can't even record audio tracks into it yet! Most people would not even have to rewire at all if this basic function was added. Even Fr...

V-Station is brilliant for bass. It can do all that the Bass Station can do and more. It also accepts presets from Novations hardware synths namely the K-Station and A-Station. With V-Station though, I rarely use the built in distortion cos it's not that good. Predatohm with V-staion is a good combi...
