absolutely, i just built a track at 120 bpm (half step), swung to fuck, well bouncy, it sounds great. and i agree that it helps with creative ideas cos by changing something fundamental like tempo you feel like you're not producing dubstep and just lay down whatever comes into your head

if memory serves you just drag one file onto another while holding shift or ctrl or alt (can't remember which one, i'm not at home at the moment) there's also a way to do a gradiated mix where you basically fade from one sample to the other. this might also be covered by one of the key combinations ...

Save an empty file where the rack is pre set-up this made a big difference to me too, esp in terms of work rate but i reckon you have to be careful in terms of how completely you set up your pre-load, if you overdo it it can promote a "path of least resistance" approach which may fuck wit...

Enjoy the music and the production and don't worry about forcing yourself to finish a track obv having fun is key! and if its easy for you to finish tracks then only finish the ones you're feeling. but if you have never finished a track and never intend to finish a track its going to be difficult t...

imo it is worth pushing yourself through that finishing barrier as often as possible cos it may sound obvious but a tune isn't really a tune until it's finished and you have a wav or mp3 or CD to play someone. also i think it's very difficult to honestly assess what you have created before it is com...

yea i have been wondering about this too. some have nailed it with really tight smooth sounding tracks. mine and many others have the occasional glitch in them... dunno if this is down to conversion or streaming limitations. but there must be a way my best guess is that it comes own to mp3 conversio...

personally i always resist bouncing to audio til i really have to, so midi transpose + drum tuning is usually a realistic option if i'm unhappy with the weight of the root note

you need to have real confidence in your monitors & acoustic space to use your approach imo

How many times do you find yourself skipping other peoples tunes to get to the main body of the beat? People's attention spans are short. hmmm ye...

agreed - often carnt be arsed but imho intros and breakdowns are the producer's opportunity to show what they can do in terms of imaginative production technique and arrangement, with no risk of detracting from the minimal weight that is necessary on the bass drop fuck around and have some fun is wo...
