Re: Korn doing dubstep
it sounds stupid right now for me to say Korn is irrelevant to dubstep, while Skrillex and Mt Eden aren't.. given they just did what they did. but i'm talking early Korn... there's no reason for DSFers to judge one another based on music that's irrelevant to the scene. unless its in the SNH. and ye...

Re: dubby garage
really like this, only hesitation is the choice of vocal sample. Could trawl around in some rnb a cappellas to find something a little more obscure?
nice work tho, keep it up

Re: The AU Freeware Thread
best ones I've found: Automat - sick synth with great lfo/envelope assignment possibilities, seriously underated Roughrider - quite an extreme compressor, lots of character MonstaChorus Orca - have to sign up to the fxpansion newsletter, and its very limited in terms of programming sounds, but the s...

Re: Compression
I really like the built-in ableton compressor (live version 7), relatively transparent so great as a workhorse... only rarely use others like roughrider or vintagewarmer for compressor with more character. I'm just starting to feel really comfortable with compressors for the first time, and got ther...

The Mixdown Tips and Tricks Thread
I hope this hasn't already been covered but I had a quick search and there doesn't seem to be a thread like it yet. If it takes off maybe someone could summarise and add it to the bible? I know there's the awesome macc thread about gain structures but there's a lot more to it than that... Mixdowns a...

Re: Prominent (and less obvious) elements of love tunes.
Honestly, I don't believe that instrumental music is inherently related to concepts like love. 1000 percent wrong you can convey any emotion with instrumentals before you go and taint it with lyrics I'm just going to ignore the 'taint with lyrics' thing because that's obviously a personal preferenc...

Re: Prominent (and less obvious) elements of love tunes.
do you think with your penis? well then, love isn't all a thought process then is it. Nope, I was just calling him a penis. BUT, my point is that ALL of it requires thought, even an erection requires you to be aroused, to be which you would require thoughts of a sexual nature in one way or another....

Re: Prominent (and less obvious) elements of love tunes.
do you think with your penis? well then, love isn't all a thought process then is it. Seriously though, some things just aren't worth trying to express in our limited vocabulary. I think you would get more of a sense of what a love song is by listening to love songs; chord progressions, instrumentat...

Re: Cans vs Monitors
From what I've heard, pretty much any half-decent setup is ok if you know it REALLY well, breakage said on here in the q+a he uses poor quality hifi speakers... I've produced on both monitors and cans, and have found it easier to mix tunes on my monitors (tannoy reveal 5A's) than headphones, but the...
