Try this: http://www.dors.de/razorlame/ It's a front-end (graphical interface) for LAME. It is pretty easy to use. 192 or 320 is just fine. And NO i'm not talking about 192 or 320kHz WAV files, I'm talking about MP3 resolutions (which are different). Here are the screen pictures: http://www.dors.de/...

how to calculate the BPM
http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/SampleCalc/ or you can calculate it with a stopwatch and a calculator: 240 divided by the length of one bar (one measure from downbeat to downbeat) in seconds = BPM You can get accurate BPM's this way if you start and stop the stopwatch right at the start and end...

No shortcuts in audio optimization
READ UP ON THIS: http://audioforums.com/resource_center.php AND THIS: http://www.pcmus.com/TweakXP.htm That stuff is pretty much how you get it done! Yeah you should really defrag your computer AFTER you uninstall all that crap and delete all your temp files and junk like that. That way the defrag a...

I have an older desktop computer and both drives are only 5400 RPM. It was never a problem for making music. I never ran out of audio tracks. My typical mixes were multiple 24bit stereo tracks at 44.1kHz. Editing was a little bit slow, but then I added more RAM to the computer and it sped up a bit. ...

If you can't do data recovery, then it sounds like you have no other choice than to use the 320s. At least you have 320s and not 128s. If you're gonna work them over again, convert them to some high resolution wav, say 32 bit float. It probably won't make much difference, but at least you can be sur...

Bit of a long winded method, but you could watch the acapella through a spectral analyser and check what frequencies are occuring. From there you can work out which notes to play against it. I use FL8 and the Parametric EQ2 for this purpose. http://www.flstudio.com/htmlhelp/html/img_plug/plugin_fx_...

MultitrackStudio Pro Plus has a pitch to MIDI converter built into it. http://MultitrackStudio.com That's the program I use as my DAW, by the way.
I remember there are other programs that do it too. Although, many of them were written for Windows 98.

Do a keyword search for DubStep at http://ShoutCast.com
That will get you some internet radio stations. I suppose if you use headphones and a lower bitrate of transmission it won't be an issue at work.
