Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for JULY, 2010

@ Haak- Really feeling this, that bassline has really nice movement in it, nice and clean, not much i can really say other then that, except maybe it could do with a few more random little sounds dotted about

@ Corpu5- Really nice feel to the tune, and that trumpety sort of thing is really nice ...

Bullshit, the way cubase handles multiout vst's is embarrassing. This from the grandfather of vst. Embarrassing.

Re: My DAW is better than yours! (Friendly DAW Wars debate)

I love cubase, sure there are a few annoying bits.

My dear friend,

Simplify your life and use a tool that is as powerful as Cubase yet far simpler to utilise.

Reaper beckons... It's like Cubase minus the annoying bits with an added decent GUI/workflow to boot.

You won't be disappointed.

You ...

Re: Samples from video games

i love sampling from games, i extracted all the audio from bioshock and bioshock 2, and there is some great stuff in there

i have taken very specific things from loads of games recently, its a really good source of sounds i think

mass effect has some cool sounds in it too

Maybe get a emulator and some of your favourite games and audacity.

its possible to just find the audio from games and extract them from the game, providing you can figure out what archiving they have used

getting all the sounds out of bioshock wasnt very difficult, just took a little bit of ...

you need to add it as a VST instrument,

press F11 and it will bring up the vst instruments menu, then add it in there, you can then add midi tracks, and send them to the different inputs on battery and in the VST istruments menu you can add outputs by clicking on the little box with an arrow in it ...

maaaaaatttte, for £400-£500 you could buy a pair of adam a7's off ebay, trust me these things are the bomb! Unless you have a room the size of a warehouse, the bass response is great for your bog standard bedroom studio. zum zum zum zum zum zum zum

Re: recording electric guitar

i have always been a fan of 3 different mics, placed around the cone in a triangle (like the predator lazer :D), then to get the sound you want, you mix the levels of the 3 mics, but this works best with good mics

i have done it with an sm57 before, but the other 2 mics were both large diaphram ...

Re: is windows 7 64-bit any good?

i havae just noticed they have brought out a dual core i5, so get the i5 750 cause its quad core and cheaper and has more cache memory

if you want an i7 i would go for the 860, or maybe the 930
