Bassline variations

A follow on approach to some of the basslines provided would be to transpose those basslines to other scales (move all the notes up or down the same number of steps)

The link below shows a chart that gives a list of minor scales, which can have a "moody - dark" sound that is great for Dubstep ...

Response to Machinedrum UW Tips question...

There is a tutorial on how to use the sampling feature in the Machinedrum user manual. Basically you set up a record track and a play track. The record track needs a trigger. It will record one loop. It will sample the entire MD output, or a seperate sound source. It is meant for on the fly sampling ...

My Space tracks and Visuals

Nice tracks also on My Space .

I use Reason 4 too - just went to the Producer Conference on Saturday - it was killer.

For visuals (in a live setting) I use Resolume - it's a VJ package and very intuitive - it's basically a 3-channel video mixer that can run on your PC with loads of free plug-ins ...

I have used this program successfully on 3 Hard Drive failures. One was caused by a virus, the other two just failed. A fourth was non-recoverable - but hey 3 out of 4 is pretty good. The process takes all night and all your files are re-labled sequentially.

Just use what you like and what sounds good to you. Be unique in your choices and your music will sound different too. I am using both. I have a Dave Smith Evolver an Elektron Machinedrum and a laptop running Reason. Personally, I prefer using hardware sequencers in live situations, and the hardware ...

DSI Evolver Patches and Shared Ideas

I would like to start a thread for DSI Evolver users that will help in dubstep production techniques just for the little blue monster.

If you have patches or thoughts on programming, routing, sequencing or using the Analog and digital oscillators please share your ideas here.

I will start it off ...
