Re: perc packs

Yeah I think layering, pitching, enveloping, EQ'ing and saturation can help you turn any sound into a new one. Add to that a synthesizer and you'll never need to go looking for perc samples again. Respectfully, I think that's rubbish. While processing can yield creative results, it can't compare to...

Re: Best clap i've heard in a long time

Feeling the tune!

Not massively inspired by the clap, not hitting that pleasure center for me, and not enough db in the mix, but different claps for different chaps :corndance:

Re: How to make this snare?

Psydub? Sounds just like a rimshot to me.. keep hunting for natural samples, or gank one from another dubstep tune, like the one, at the end: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbIojBHplV0 but every second snare in the tune you posted has that rush of air beforehand giving it a bit more body. You can tr...

Always a fan of your work ASC !
Was listening to a really heavy old Warm Communications record today - you've been a huge inspiration.

Re: Clipping

It might be worth reading a relevant post at gearslutz on a related matter... http://www.gearslutz.com/board/mastering-forum/553138-clipping-master-more-apparent-loudness.html I will state my own experiences on this matter; please keep in mind this is just my opinion. Many professional tracks, when...

Re: Too much sub bass in dubstep?

Its a matter of taste but I'd rather hear the sub be powerful and blend with an actual groove, not just a goth trad drone if you're going to drone then I'd like to hear some pitch modulation at the very least to keep it groovy That's what I'm talking about man. Interesting to see divergent opinions...

Re: Too much sub bass in dubstep?

Bunch of pilled out kids for certain  No, but seriously, for example this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofjJGdpT3QU&feature=related Y'know, sounds like that old Loefah sound. It's actually pretty sweet... It's a balance issue though -- sub is pushing so much air, it's all that you are rea...

Re: Clipping

now, I'm fairly ignorant when it comes to mixing/mastering. Hmm.. well alls I knows is mastering a piece of electronic dance music usually means that the tune is brought up to 0db to sound as impactful as possible. If the OP is "mastering" a dance track, there shouldn't be -3db of headroo...

Too much sub bass in dubstep?

Sounds like a heretical question, I know. BUT. Was listening to some Demon, and District, and all the other dungeoneers lately, and couldn't help but think that nearly everything else in the mix was being overtaken by this loud droning sub. Doesn't help matters that these guys rarely actually change...

Re: Clipping

Chill y'all. I bet he understands now that boosting post-master is not a good idea... Clipping in the mixing stage is alright if the distortion isn't too noticeable. I remember Icicle (boss producer) saying he has a healthy amount of clipping on his mixes, and never gives a track to an ME without it...

Drama queens though, by all accounts.

My nod goes to their remix of Torqux's Relentless. That's some serious rhythm and grit

Re: Snare sample packs

Well that sort of ruined the song! Cuz it was a total gem before... The snare in that tune is the classic "Pendu-snare", used in so many jump up dnb tunes. It's all about the 200hz zone for that one. You could try sampling the lower end of any snare from any Pendulum or Br...
