And the Kranky label has good stuff - Stars of The Lid, Windy & Carl, Raglani. After re-reading the original post these are closer to what was stated there. Stars of The Lid are especially great.

From the replies so far I can see there's a rather 'broad' definition of what modern classical is, here are a few recommendations: For spacious orchestral and choral music I like Arvo Pärt, Henryk Górecki, Giya Kancheli - in fact most releases on the ECM New Series label. I've done a bit of breakcore production, and have a 12" on Kvist records.
