You could also check the Carlton Arms Hotel, on 3rd Avenue and 25th Street. It's not terribly far from Love, the rates are decent (less than 150 for 2 people), and the rooms are each designed and painted by an artist (folk-art style, not trendy boutique hotel). Friends who stayed there, after ...

Great thread. I found these links recently - only two chapters scanned and posted online as PDFs. I've been hunting a decent-priced used copy in the meantime. It would be great to see a re-press and new introduction/chapter, etc. with 10-year hindsight. (credit to Wayne Marshall for PDFs.)
