Re: Question on Trap tracks
it's pretty pathetic when people insult you for having standards and taste edm trap is a dumbed down bro version of an interesting sound that misses what makes the original sound good it's exactly the same as dubstep > brostep. interesting, innovative original sound, co-opted by the bro crowd and tw...

Re: What kind of headphones do you use?
ath m50s, they're great and like $150 Same here. I use Rokit 5s and always reference back to the m50s for bass response. Dre Beats sound good, but I have a hard time believing there isn't something as good that is cheaper. There are shit ton of headphones that are WAY cheaper and better sounding th...

Re: How you going to be spending your production time today?
dicking around with the wavestation vst. what a great synth Had a disk laying around for years and never really thought about it until recently. But holy shit, how awesome? well it's a vst version of a digital synth from the 90s with lots of PCM waveforms, so if you're into that sort of 90s soundtr...

Had one, had it stolen. Do you consider the minikorg easy to program? Same kind of matrix. With those synths you are pretty much programming versus something like the kong ms2000 or minbrute which can be played, if yer catching my drift. whenever i used a microkorg the parameters written on the fro...

Re: Gear lust
I'm thinking of picking up a Yamaha AN1x, because it sounds awesome, looks like it would make a nice midi controller, and looks pretty deep and versatile. Anyone have any experiences? People say it's hard to program, but looking at it, it doesn't seem that bad.

Re: Post-Dubstep and Future Garage
I've been digging this sound. These are the similarities I've noticed which might help define it, and convince that it isn't garage generically, but actually a sub-style of it. - Overall dark sound. It lacks a certain very-high brightness, and has present but not dominating subbass, which implies t...

Re: How long does it take you to make a song?
i rarely finish a song in one sitting. i'll usually start a few projects on one day, work on them for a bit, and finish a whole bunch on another day. it's good to have fresh ears. that said, to all the people having trouble finishing songs, don't worry about if it's perfect or not. when you feel lik...

perhaps this isn't the most popular opinion at dubstepforum.com, but dubstep is pretty much dead. even the bros who ruined dubstep have moved on to ruining trap music now
