Re: Sub Bass Trouble
Compressing means to reduce the dynamic range between the loudest part and the quietest part of an audio signal. If you used a compressor with a really high ratio like 20:1 or above, then yes you will probably end up clipping the waveform into some sort or squarish shape (actually just square off th...

Re: Why is an Analogue-type eq vst considered better than a
I read a very interesting aritcle the other day over on Gearslutz talking about how all digital EQs can be made to sound the same as long as you have a precise enough parametric EQ and a saturation plugin. http://www.gearslutz.com/board/so-much-gear-so-little-time/330874-digital-eq-fact-myth.html#po...

Re: Sub Bass Trouble
I would never compress a pure sine sub, if you need to even out the dynamics then change the envelope of the patch or the velocity of the bass part, you don't really need to compress synth bass unless you want to 'glue' it to something else.

Re: Dubstep Computer
Yea forget the speakers & soundcard, get a decent PCI or usb soundcard designed for music production, it will be much more useful (M-Audio, Focusrite, Motu etc etc).
Also as mentioned, get some decent monitor headphones instead of some 5.1 system which will be no good for production.

Re: yamaha hs10w vs krk 10's with fostex pm-1? Best Fit
The crossover just needs to be set at whatever you've set the sub at which is simple enough. If you don't think it's working properly, try running a sine test tone across the frequency spectrum using a db meter and see if it drops off at 80Hz. Your walls are vibrating because the kinetic energy from...

Re: Simple yes or no w/optional advice/explanation.
As mentioned - it would be best to upload straight to Soundcloud so people can hear your stuff easily. If you're asking the question whether the bassline is too messy, it would suggest you probably shouldn't worry about putting it out "properly" on soundcloud, just upload it so people can ...

Re: Pleasing Distortion
I never actually use distortion - if you're using it for presence just use a nice warm light overdrive (the Logic inbuilt overdrive is actually pretty nice, otherwise I tend to use CamelPhat). Using it on midrange instruments like Rhodes can really add character to what might be a bland sound withou...

Hey, I think vocals are out of sync with kicks in the intro, don't sound quite right. Not sure whats happening with the drop but everything sounds out of time - beats keep coming in really early and stuff and its definitely not in 4/4 time signature (pretty much essential for a piece of dance music)...

The only name that comes into mind is Mount Kimble but even thats different. Probably best looking at actual Jazz musicians instead of producers seeing it all sounds very live!

Re: Reccommend me some earplugs please ninjas!!!!
Lol at paying for earplugs, I get them free at work but to be fair they are just cheap foam ones, but still they do the job as good as the £100 plugs you can buy. They're yellow though. No they don't, they don't have a flat frequency response so music will sound muffled, plus you cant really wear f...

Re: Is Skream worth seeing anymore?
It's not really a big shift, he's been playing and making more agressive stuff for ages. As for why he's doing it, he's playing what he wants and not caring what anyone thinks which is fair enough!
No hate to skream but probably not worth seeing if you only like the deeper stuff.

Yea good idea - although you can get on the normal website with an iPhone or something, and double tapping justifies the text so it's pretty easy to read. Dedicated app would be cool though
