When you layer your drums...

I was reading some of the Samplecraze stuff on layering drums and wondering what you guys tend to do. Do you go ADSR method or do you EQ out the freqs you don't need on each layer? Those Samplecraze books are seen btw

Offer Up Tips On Sampling From Vinyl

Hey all just wondering what's you process for sampling vinyl . Do you record into Soundforge, direct to your DAW, to an MPC? What kind of processing (if any) do you do after you record your sample (but before you start chopping messing with it) Like do you denoise or anything or normalize or bring ...

Anywhere to swap gear

I just sold some gear on ebay and got ripped off £65 by the fuckers in fees. Knew about the ebay but not the paypal. I wanted to sell a soundcard and a dsp card as well but I don't wanna do that there now. Are there any sites where you can just trade stuff? :u:

Re: Can anyone help me with my setup

I took a long time inside the softsynths before coming outside of the computer and getting a few bits of kit as well. I'm fine with synthesis/playing and using each instrument etc but sometimes you come across an area where you haven't gone yet..like I never ran out of in/outs before because I didn ...

Re: Can anyone help me with my setup

No, of course I know how to connect it up. However, there are 2 things where I am coming stuck specifically. Before I was using a S/C which had RCA type inputs and with the inputs being phono leads from the turntables I could plug them straight in. Now with the FF I'm not sure what I need to go ...

Re: Can anyone help me with my setup

my actual dj mixer is just a djm600 so no midi or anything unfortunately
unless your asking about the mixing controller in the pic which is a vcm600. i never did get into digital djing and ended up sticking with vinyl/serato so i'm using it in my production setup instead

Can anyone help me with my setup

Hey all,
I could really do with some input on my setup. I have spent quite a long time working ITB am happy with my knowledge on synthesis but now want to breakout into a hybrid setup. Really finding the routings a steep learning curve at the moment though. I can work with each element singly and I ...

Re: Software trading/give away thread.

I've recently upgraded my setup. I'm looking to trade Rob Papen's Sub Boom Bass. Up for grabs is also a UAD Solo laptop card although I'm transferring the plugs to a new UAD Duo. Well I'm also looking to get rid of one of my CDJ 900's because I also got 1210's and I use them with Serato more ...

Studio Racks questions

Upgrading my gear to include a Fireface800 and Vermona Drum Synth. Fireface looks like it takes up 1 unit and the Vermona I know is 5u. Got a rackmount pc processor at the mo but no rack. Would love a desktop rack ideally for all this but hell all the ones that I'm looking at like the quiklok ...

Massive Users - Can you explain about harmonic intervals?

Hi guys. I'm getting my head round Massive at the moment but I seem to spend a lot of time messing around trying to get all the oscillators to sound nice together.

If I layer 3 oscillators......
The first at 12.00, the second at 0.00 and the third at -12.00 then I have a note layered across three ...

Organising & Labeling Drums

Hey all,

So I thought I'd have a go at reorganising my drum sounds and chuck the stuff I didn't like away but it turns out to be far harder than I thought. The main problem is that I know the drum sound I like and hear but I'm a bit stuck coming up with a name for it. Ok so with kicks the subby 808 ...

Real time recording of midi drums with keyboard

I'm finding playing drums in with a midi keyboard a bitch. Maybe it's just me. I don't get much latency so that's all good but physically as an 'instrument' it's just fucking weird. It's like there's not enough space to get into it. I'm used to hand drums and have played drumset a bit. I'm borrowing ...

How is a transient shaper different from an adsr env?

Ok so i'm playing around with some drum layering. Question says it all really. I see some people chucking around terms like 'transient shaper' plugin/vst. how is this different from using adsr env's in ableton or soundforge for each sound for example?

Re: Question about Vinyl > Wav

Thanks guys. I'm now going decks>mixer>soundcard>laptop which definitely raises the signal but I also get horrible noise with it. The grounds are connected to the mixer, all my cables are hi-quality, vinyls are clean, I got new needles specially for ripping so I don't understand this. Wtf is going ...
