Re: anyone recommend a hardware analogue delay

I've got one of these, it certainly has plenty of character. It's good value for money.

Re: Fast shuffly hat patterns

It's less about swing and more about velocity, a small amount of swing and getting the velocities right is they. Think about which hits you're accenting.

Re: 808 kick not sub-bass?

Sub Bass is simply anything below 100hz. The 808 kick is generated by overdriving a sine wave

regardless of whether your using a sine wave or 808 just pitch it accordingly

I'm fairly sure there's no difference between the SL2, SL3 & SL4 in terms of processing quality

Re: Actress / 2562 Chords

With this kind of stuff, I think getting the groove right is as important as anything. I'd probably bounce a few chords as audio, then play about sequencing them creating a groove with the drums, maybe pitch shifting/subtly modulating them as well. AMUS/2562 does a lot of sample based stuff.

Re: so what do we all think of these 303 and 808 reissue rum

Will be retaining full judgement until i've heard them, but from what i've read today the TR-08 sounds quite impressive. I don't care if it isn't analogue as long as it sounds good. The new aira 303 looks a bit weird with the touch screen, i'm not particularly bothered about it as i've got a X0Xbox ...

I have the same processor and RAM as you, have you tried bouncing to audio any parts that you're not going to change? Other than that I think you're going to be looking at an upgrade.

Re: so what do we all think of these 303 and 808 reissue rum

Wondering if the news will drive down the price of the x0b0x style clones. Possibly slightly, unless they're analogue (of which i'm doubtful) when they will have a big impact. Saying that, i'm struggling to see the use in re-making the 303 if it's not analogue with all the synths we've had since. T...

I think you're after something like Fruity Stereo Shaper, quite useful for widening pads etc

Re: Gear lust

I agree on the MPD pads, sold mine because they're such a ballache to work with. You can adjust the sensitivity but they seem to either be too stuff where you have to really bash them or too light where every hit is too hard. I replaced it with a KorgNanopad which was much nicer to work in. Unfortun...

Re: New Laptop for producing

Struggling to see how your current machine isn't up to the task, i manage fine on a seven year old 32 bit windows XP PC. Try some new synths, like Lush 101 or U-He Diva, see how your ancient PC runs then. ;-) I think it would struggle RAM wise, i'd like to think the quad core would hold up. OP: Why...

If your heart is set of changing it then as Legend4ry said, get the best you can afford. You might get better value buying second hand rather than new

might be obvious, but make sure your monitors are setup in the correct position. Also what are the acoustics like in the room you're mixing in?
