How much material do you have? All originals? I use Reason 4 + Ableton for live sets, so if you can give me the stems I could do something pretty sexy. To me, at least. :D

Danny Stamp -promo mix (hip-hop/breaks/dubstep)

A 30-minute mix covering hip-hop, breaks and dubstep. I normally play house and techno, but have been moving towards this sort of stuff for quite some time. Still, this is my first proper mix using these genres, so be kind. ;) DOWNLOAD HERE [01] Swollen Members - Press Forward Interlude - [Battle Ax...

Have to say I can't stand this tune.

Off-key singing and very basic tune in the background. Awful.

320k MP3 all the way for me. Anybody who says they can tell the difference between WAV and 320 is chatting rubbish, unless they have an acoustically-perfect setup at home. I never understand the love for the vinyl sound either. I'd sooner not have crackling noises and not have to lug around a huge d...

I'm not too fussed on having extended versions as I use Ableton so can do whatever I like with them. For those using CDs, you can do it pretty easily and re-record the MP3. Having listened to this a few more times, there are some nice tunes, but overall it's not worth purchasing the entire album. I ...

Just got a promo copy of this. Will write a review later. On first listen it's not that great. A few "nice" tracks, but sounds very formulaic and most tracks sound very familiar to stuff I've heard on his own mixes and productions. However, a few more listens before I decide for sure. http...

Cheers for all the Reason info, guys. :D I've got a Computer Music (I think?) special on Reason 4, which cost £7.99. Seems quite comprehensive, and I'm also using the ASK tutorial DVDs. I had Sound Clart send me a sample project from Reason 3, but opening it in version 4.0 sees it asking me "wh...

Yeah, I'm new here too.

I've been DJing for a couple of years in tech-house, dub-techno, breaks and progressive circles, but have always loved dubstep. A night at FabricLive a few months back was enough to kick me into gear and get on the case.

I'm a complete n00b in Reason 4, but getting there.

There's another thread here in Production on Ableton (not the Ableton Live 8 one). I've posted some guides right at the end. It's awesome software. It's all I've ever used for DJ sets. Feel free to shoot away with questions when you're starting, but do check that other thread! I've linked to forums ...

I've seen Reaktor used for auto-EQing in a live situation, but not much else.

And tbh, this is the first time I'd heard of Max.

Are they much cop for live sets? Sell them to me. :P

that APC looks :o :o :o Hmmm... I'd be happier if it had some defined section for EQ rotaries tbh. I'm not sure I often have a whole load of clips all set out in advance. Certainly for live DJ sets anyway. I could do with way fewer pads/buttons. Apparently it's £399/$399, depending on where you liv...

BTW 1.8.3 is out. Anyone try it yet? I'm going to start playing strictly .wav on serato. Anyone else doing this either? My friend does this with House and it sounds fantastic. FLAC is where it's at, if you don't find MP3 good enough. But tbh, unless you're in an acoustically perfect environment, yo...

I remember a guy who copied Deadmau5 stuff in Ableton just to prove how simplistic it was. There are some vids and even the whole live set knocking about. yeah but I'm not entirely sure about how something can be invalidated just because the process could be easily replicated. I didn't say it was i...

I've never had this issue with Ableton. Just use 16-bit export.

Does that WAV sound crap or just when you've compressed it to MP3?

I use CDEx for MP3 conversion.

I've never experienced the WAV sounding different to the "live" version in Ableton. Ever.
