Re: Samples, distinguishing good vs bad

thanks for the input everyone! i guess it does come down to opinion since ultimately i still need to spice it up and add my own flavor to it, i just wanted some clarification since alot of people bash samples from CM saying how they can only find one good one in the whole dvd so it made me think abo...

Re: Samples, distinguishing good vs bad

Here's some things to consider: how does this sound fit in with the ones I've already got/want? Does it compliment the other sounds or does it not fit in at all? Or does it contrast with the other sounds in an interesting way? Is it phat/warm/crunchy/dirty/clean/dull/hollow/whatever enough for what...

Samples, distinguishing good vs bad

hate to sound like a dumbass but as the title implies, how can one tell if the sample is good or not, i read on here a while back someone bashing CM samples and how the hats sound like high passed kicks! does it take a trained ear to determine what is good? or is this just a matter of opinion? aside...

Re: samples and project bpm/tempo

@DH for drums i do pitch them up or down depends on their tempo and project (house or dnb), i was mainly referring to vocal snippets from songs and instrument riffs like string arrangements and the like @project ex and symmsounds thats what i was going with at first and i guess i will still do, is t...

samples and project bpm/tempo

so i just got a padkontrol over the weekend and started having a go at it by chopping my samples and laying my chops over my drum beats, i then decided to read up on it in the bible and performed a search to get some tips on chopping, main thing i ran into was matching sample to project bpm, this ho...

Re: TUTORIAL: Hoovers & Reeses Explained

^^^not sure if you read my post correctly but im not having problems recreating the sounds, did you go to the links i posted? they say the opposite of what futures has put on here and state a hoover is made with saws and a reese is made with squares, i have made both sounds following the tuts on the...

Re: TUTORIAL: Hoovers & Reeses Explained

jackiechanmyheadisfulloffuck.jpg i'm really confused here with the explanations on the how to for both of these sounds, first off the reese in both those vids sound like a monster of a bassline (no growling but rather rumbling bass) but following the tut i get a growling sinister bass! dont get me w...

Re: The Reaper Q&A Thread

^^^i in no way meant it that way, i was sincere when i asked about your approach to making your sounds, thing is i stumbled upon another thread i believe it was in ghf and a user explained how to approach making fat basses and he mentioned he gets his bass as nasty as possible prior to feq splitting...

Re: The Reaper Q&A Thread

Then you can generally record onto track 1 as midi, tweak the sound, fix the notes, whatever. Then change the record setting on track 5 to Record Stereo Output and bounce to audio by arming track 5 and disarming track 1 and playing the synth section through. <Reaper3 tried that last night, works li...

Re: The Reaper Q&A Thread

I'm not sure Reaper has native frequency splitting. The standard technique for any DAW is to create three (or how ever many bands you want) auxillary channels, then to use an EQ to define the frequencies of each band. ---------------------- So set up the following. Create a new track to hold the au...

Re: The Reaper Q&A Thread

Okay, just learned of a quick way to import slices directly from within Reaper into a sampler. Select the slice, then hold down CTRL + ALT while dragging & dropping the slice onto the sampler. 8) You'll have to do it one slice at a time, and you have to drop the file onto the area where samples...
