CDJ800 bits...

Just a quick one:

Does anyone have a copy of the CDJ800MK2 service manuals / circuit diagrams? Even just a photo of the inside of one would be nice...

Cheers

My mate has some M1 620s. He runs them straight out of his laptop AC97 onboard sound. When there is no signal they sound really dirty - high hiss and crackles. Even when the the soundcard is true line level it still sounds crap. They seem to be really sensitive to other interference. It probably is ...

The way Windows deals with windows (ha!) is a bit weird. When you minimize / maximize it stops and starts the render-loop for the GUI. This means that more CPU power will be required for a brief moment while the window draws itself for the first time. Try setting the process priority of your DAW hig...

POWER comes from a good mix. Get the mix right and the level will take care of itself.

Its been a while since I used Acid. If your samples are clean, then it could well be down to the drivers. If Acid supports ASIO then use ASIO4ALL (http://www.asio4all.com/) like blunt said. Windows WDM is a really basic interface mainly used to trigger sounds from applications (like the error noise ...

Does anyone use gated distortion on drums? I find it brings drums out really nice.

Are there any disadvantages to using it? It seems to be giving the drums more life - will the end result damage the mix?

Anyone know of any good plugins that do it well?

Record onto speakers onto phone, add some bass through Nokia music player EQ, jobs a good un, Im ready for the back of the bus. hahaha yes! I think EQ is the most useful tool in creating a good master, that and stereo imaging. Then just limit or compress. Multiband compression might make a bad mix ...

There is also something wrong with the high synth in terms of stereo field. Maybe its just panning, but it sounds a bit phasy.

Are you using a MIDI controller? The time between hitting a key and a VST rendering the sound can be quite a long time on some computers. To see if its your ASIO latency that is causing the problem, map a midi track to your on board midi synth and play something through the controller. If that sound...

Thats a good point. I have never done this in practice and you are right, there is a lot of jitter and shifting going on. Maybe use some form of RMS frequency analysis and use that *curve* to eq the original? I guess, like you said with your 320 you lose bit accuracy from the moment you go from flat...

As macc said, too much bass in the mix will suck out the volume and a good healthy spectrum is the key. I can think of two other ways you could improve it... 1. Master as usual, leave a tiny bit more headroom than normal, say 0.05db. Upload it onto myspace and record it back. Get the two mixes (the ...
