Re: Can you rewire Dr Drum to FL Studio?

EH, you're confusing it with redrum/dr octo rex ;-)
Dr Drum is just another Dub Turbo.

@OP: pretty sure you can't, it's a piece of shit.

Thought that might be the case. Never could get used to prosilver, feels like driving on the left side of the road.

Re: ***Changing Board Style Back***

I went to swap back, but saw that the theme prior prosilver, not sure how it was called, is gone :(
No possibility of adding it back, is there?

Re: One does not simply loudness.

^ pretty much. You can't really tell how loud a track will be by looking at the wave. A brickwall/sausage wave will have high RMS, average loudness. Most of the time a higher RMS will mean more loudness, but that totally depends on the contents of the mix. Raw RMS (not A-weighted) is only a rough gu...

Re: One does not simply loudness.

Dynamics or dynamic range is just the difference in amplitude between the lowest and highest peaks. i.e. a squashed mix will have it's lowest peaks way higher than a non squashed mix, thus having less dynamic range. Amplitude, in this case measured by dBFS does not equal loudness. It's only a relati...

Re: help an idiot with some audio interface/cable questions

So either TRS to TRS or XLR to TRS will work, either way, the monitors will likely receive only TRS, but the interface can use both in the same plug. Other way around, don't think many interfaces have xlr combo outs. Think you are confusing them with the inputs ;-) Cables are correct, XLR must be m...

Good call on the firewire chipset. Without the TI chipset it's pretty much a hit or miss with most firewire interfaces. TI or go USB.

Re: Patchbay to Interface??

Don't go with the 8Pre, not sure if you noticed, but it has only 2 outs. The Saffire 40 would be a good upgrade regarding the I/O, but not so much in terms of conversion/sound quality compared to the Saffire 6. Don't know what your budget is, but I'd consider a second hand fireface 400 (firewire) or...

Re: The DIY Synth/FX/Stuff thread ... =)

This stuff you guys are doing looks sick. Very interested in getting involved in this sort of thing but not sure where to start. Anyone recommend anything for someone new to it all? The GSSL compressor a few pages back was sort of my first real build. Before this I've only build a few mics which do...

Re: Patchbay to Interface??

4 ins and outs total will give you 1 processing chain if your using 2 outs for monitors. You could create 2 processing chains if you have a seperate out for headphones (so that basically 6 outs total), but lose the monitors. To expand your I/O count you'd need to get a AD/DA converter with the neede...

Re: The DIY Synth/FX/Stuff thread ... =)

I got a dremel too, and it's indeed very easy to scratch your panel. I was actually looking at stepped drills, but they are rather expensive in comparison to normal drills. They start at €30 from what I've seen. Might take the plunge for the next build as they will save alot of time and hassle. Hot ...

Re: The DIY Synth/FX/Stuff thread ... =)

Did the backpanel today. Metal work took me like half day. Holes for the xlr connectors are 23mm in diameter, biggest drill I had was 10mm. Got the extra 13mm with a file tool (most time consuming and most boring and irritating part). Scratched the panel a few times around the IEC connector during t...

Shit. Just read up a bit on Lindell Audio. I'm so in the minute I've got some money to work with. Thanks for the tip on that! Fuck yes...I have a goddamn gear boner right now thinking about that EQ and Compressor... Good to hear. Be sure to report back if you decide to buy and have had some hands o...

Re: Got a new SSL desk today ( gear porn )

Ah ok, I tought you meant new. A new 6 slot box from Lindell Audio, "506 Power", just got released. It retails for $299 in the US, not sure how much in Europe. Looks a it might be one of the cheapest ways to get into this format. They also have 3 modules, a mic pre with 2 band eq, comp (11...

Re: Got a new SSL desk today ( gear porn )

Nice setup! The great thing about these rack mount module units is you can custom build your rack. You can build tailored to your sound over time as well. Start with a lunchbox £360 and add a £500 eq then next month a compressor. What lunchbox for that price? There's also lots of DIY stuff for the 5...
