I just prefer to use audio for drums instead of sequencing them on a piano roll or drum machine because i find it easier to quickly chop and edit audio rather than midi.

cause i don't like the idea of sequencing my kicks and snares, nor do i like working with midi for them, but it does make it easier.....but the main reason is cause i like to de-quantize my hats by a random tick or two and keep my kicks and snares right on the 16ths and with logic the best way to ...

I find it most efficient to like you said use audio clips for your main elements like kick and snare and shuffle and whatever. And then program anything that need dynamics like velocity in a drum machine like you said Ultrabeat or Battery. (I find Ultrabeat way more effecient to work with. haven't ...

and to anyone that says 140 quid is expensive - imagine that you're 28 and going deaf. would you pay 140 to get your hearing back? of course - you'd pay ten times that! :)

I might have to get an expensive pair like that then because i ...

I use every means possible to make the craziest thing I can possibly make. If I sat around making every FX sample from scratch or programing the high hats for every aspect of my tunes I would never finish tunes as fast and efficiently. If it was'nt for break beat loops allot of my favorite styles of ...

you have to at least fuck around with the preset at little to make it somewhat unrecognizable IMO. Whats the fun in using a straight preset anyways?

try scratching with these things on and hearing the scratch through all of the high and mid end. I find it is impossible. The earplugs I have(Alpine) muffle the sound way to much to use them in a working setting IMO.

yep... I got some of those alpine ones a while back when I noticed my ears started ringing more often than usual. They are shit for producing or performing with though because of the way it cuts out the mid and high range. Good for just being in loud spaces. Is there a kind of earplug that won't ...

my advice would be to start with what you intend to be using once you advance. If you are going to take a music tech course you want the one the coincides with the software you are going to be using and vice versa.

p.s. just in case you don't know Reason does not allow you to import 3rd party Vsts ...

The way that Massive's preset library is set up I completely bypassed both of those brutal electro presets(until they were mentioned on here) and a slew of other ones. making your own shit with massive can be really really fun (and hard). I love the performance lfo so much... I'm still fully hooked ...
