Re: the techno thread

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSbq9pTIIn0 Bass music back then was primitive as hell, but people who passed this up to buy crowd bangers learned what the REAL crowd banger was when I tossed this on at 3AM in some dark dirty warehouse in '92. 136 BPM and pounding sounds more energetic in a car stere...

Re: it's finally happened then.

LOL @ Americans killing dubstep. Perhaps my sarcasm detector is broken, however.....Its a number 1 hit in the UK, which means they ate it right up. Whose worse, the creator of shitty music, or the masses who buy it ad nauseum making it a number 1 hit?

Re: Death of Dubstep?

That blog sounds like a bunch of location based chest thumping credibility issue offloading self justification to me. Dubstep was "invented" in London? - Yeah, slapping together influences from english DnB, Hip Hop (new york) Techno (detroit) and dub (jamaica). Of course its the "yank...

Re: Making classic dubstep interesting for people without su

Bass is one of the defining factors of the style. Back when Techno was starting to crest in popularity (yes, im that old, heh) there were people who would crank out these beatless soundscape toons and we had similar discussions. Some were like "how can you call this stuff techno while leaving o...

Egoless - What happened to this person? The whole "no ego no problems" thing was cool.

Zeno - making good tracks nowdays.

Max Ohm - Hear his mixes all over the place but the dubs he makes deserve more play.

Re: Burial on Top Gear

I am a lover of irony, and many of you guys are "it". You see, many people here pitch a fit when artists dont make something different, and declare it all sounds the same. The minute someone makes something that even sounds remotely different, someone jumps forward and declares it "no...

Legally, you cannot copyright a name. That will be all. How many DJQs are out there? I know of quite a few and I am sure I dont know them all. Bastardizations of Ruckus Rukkus Rawkus etc... Re: better mixdowns with compressor on EVERY channel.

It does not apply to sounds that are already pre-produced samples as they are the SAME SOUND each time they are played anyhow. An example would be a snare drum sample. It is the same sample each time it comes around in the mix, and not some drummer hitting the snare slightly differently each time it...

Re: ive also got a problem

The irony here is: People complain there is nothing different going on. Too many producers use the same sounds in their music etc. Then, when someone DOES do something new, its the same tossers who jump in there and say "its not dubstep, this should be in the wonky trip hop country western cowb...
