How does one go about making this sort of background pad?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjFuh8PXw0A

The sound I'm talking about starts at about 14 seconds into the track and then remains constant. It is very subtle yet pleasing to the ear and adds a lot to the track. Any idea/tips on how to achieve this sort of sound? Much appreciated, cheers. :D

Re: Subbass destroying my kick

sidechaining is the answer Gotta disagree with ya there. Sidechaing can be a fix, but i wouldnt jump to it unlesss it REALLY needed it. Try Hi passing your kick to around 80hz ^^^This Sidechaining can be very useful, and it can also be used as a cool effect in order to achieve a desired sound...but...

Re: Ad Limiter's...Good or Bad?

Quite generic question there. Got any limiters in mind???, they all sound slightly different in the way they treat audio. Been using the built in Logic Adaptive Limiter. fuck that. learn how this stuff works instead of running in fear (or condemnation) of dynamic control. slap a limiter on your mas...

So I sampled a kick from a track that is peaking at -0.2 db

The track starts off with a 4 on the floor kick that is damn near red lining, which makes for great sampling...But my question is, according to proper mixing technique, the drums should technically be peaking at around -8 to -9 db, so what's going on here? How is it that the song can start off with ...

Re: When it comes to live performance...

Everything should be your best. "All killer, no filler" Yep. Couldnt have said it better myself! Yeah for sure. I mean ideally every track is just one heater after the other, but I've got some "weak spots" if ya know what I mean. Should I open up melting their faces, or close? I...

Bus Levels...

Say I'm sending a kick, snare and hihats to bus. Do I want my instrument levels peaking around -1 within the bus, and then bring the bus level down to -12? Or, should I leave the bus volume at 0, and send my instrument levels to -12 within the bus? Or does it not make any difference? Sorry if that d...

Re: Synth that allows importing audio as well as LFO automation?

Right on! So how would I control LFO1 with LFO2 then? I've assigned each to Performance control 1 and 2, respectively...Thanks! :D

Re: Synth that allows importing audio as well as LFO automation?

I believe you're talking about FAW Circle, and I did just read the manual. I am still unable to import audio as a source. Perhaps I'm missing something, would you mind clarifying this?

Synth that allows importing audio as well as LFO automation?

I use Alchemy, Albino, and Massive. Albino and Massive allow LFO automation but no audio importing. Alchemy allows audio importing but no LFO automation. Is there one synth which allows both of these? Also, I'm on a mac. Cheers

Re: an open letter

Shit on a stick man. Maybe a story of my own will make you feel not so alone? Long story short, my girl of 3 and half years just moved 100 miles away, transferred schools, quit her job, and moved in with her family, all after signing a year long lease two months ago and selling my car. So now I have...

Re: Lfo on samples.

Most DAW's have a sampler, and usually the sampler has an LFO on it. Just load the sample into the sampler and have a go with the LFO :D
