Re: Anyone here build their own hardware gear?
I have never built from scratch either in terms of design or kit form but have a custom built eq and I have done a fair amount of equipment modding. There is a lot to go wrong when building your own gear and you need lots of time as well. Time is the main issue in fact, even modding stuff takes a l...

Re: Anyone here build their own hardware gear?
Heres my thread on my DIY creations Built a couple of synths so far, only from kits, not designed anything yet. Been stupidly busy last two weeks but next project is some techno box built from 808 clone components and some other bits. Should be fun! Noise generator thingy with light dependant resis...

Anyone here build their own hardware gear?
Just curious if anyone builds or has built anything in the past. I am in the middle of a project now and would love to talk and such with someone on this forum who may be doing similar things.

Re: Interface problem
From reading this I can safely imagine that the DB Meter on the interface is for the inputs not the output. What goes to your monitors would be regarded as the output, even though it is coming from your Mac, if it isn't routed into your Mic/Inst input lines then its likely the meter is only for tho...

Re: Commercial dubstep
Iv been asked to make a commercial... but i would like to inject my style into it, to put my stamp on it and also maybe make underground a bit more palatable to the mainstream.... As someone who composes for commercials at a studio (a lot of which is dubstep) I am going to say that what you mention...

Re: birthday: NI komplete or apogee duet 2?
DUET 2 HANDS DOWN
after getting it personally I wish it was my first purchase, I would produce on the Duet, Monitors (sound proofed-ish room) and stock plugins if I knew.
P.S. the people who work at Apogee are so INCREDIBLY FRIENDLY! purchase it directly from them

Re: What Converters do you guys use here?
Apogee Duet, great quality AD/DA on it I am using the Duet too, anyone who needed to ask about converters should simply invest in this unit (if Mac), you will be blown away by the quality and it takes time to train your ear to hear it so dont just a/b really quick unless you know whats up P.S. I am...

Re: What cable do I need?
If we're going to get into cable politics: http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10244 This will sort you out for half the cost of home built cables. These are rugged as fuck, heavy gauged, and gold plated. I've only been using these cables for 6 mo now, but I use t...

Re: What cable do I need?
i doubt you can hear the difference in different cabling. its just wire, nothing else. make sure its a balanced circuit and the wires are twisted and you're all good. dont fall into that trap of buying 100 quid 2 metre cables. connectors on the other hand, neutrik are good conductors, made to withs...

Re: What cable do I need?
Can do trs to trs or trs to xlr balanced. Yeah to clarify, TRS = 1/4" Balanced So you can go out the TRS ouput of the interface straight into the TRS 1/4" input of the Monitors (or buy it so that TRS>XLR Balanced). Also for general knowledge: Mogami = best cabling Neutrik = best connector...

Re: New Plugin Idea | Dynamic Frequency Responder (not mine)
Do you guys really not see some of the potentials in this idea from a production state? when used on complex synths you could be tracing our harmonics almost as if it was dynamic/moving comb filters that are custom made by yourself! rephrase: you can design your own filter shapes and sounds and even...

Re: DATSIK BASS
What would be the point in being a producer who sounds like someone else? this although i dont see a problem with starting from scratch and trying to sound like another producer just for practice. but simply taking a patch that sounds like someone else is stupid... For those of you who didn't seem ...

Re: DATSIK BASS
If it's fun, do it. If someone just likes to make tracks which sound like Datsik, do it. Why would you not want to do the thing which is the most fun for you (provided it doesn't hurt anyone blah blah)? Maybe they'll find their own sound, maybe they won't. Who cares. Do what makes you happy. Most a...
