I've had the Asus one and the Wind, the Wind was much better.. but still lacking for production. I wouldn't try it in a live setting, it was just too finicky and small. Your eyes start to hurt after an hour or so. Hacked it out too with higher resolution, more memory and different OSes..It's great f...

Same, highly recommended. Grab that and the latest LAME encoder from http://lame.sourceforge.net and off you go.

Stay far away from VBR too.

Other than that I use the built in encoder in Sound Forge which is also good.

All suggestions + lots of portamento!

Any synth really. If you want to do it with white noise, you can bounce a loop of white noise (or any sound) out and import it as a sample and sequence it to rise quite easily.

If you're using Kontakt, it has some good vowel filters for doing this. Just turn the resonance up a bunch and it gets more audible.

Yeah really good stuff, I agree shame they didn't mention dubstep more but it's still a baby compared to the main theme of the docu so I guess that's why. A small bit with LTJ Bukem as well that I remember.. and quite a bit of dnb and jungle talk. Congo Natty in there smoking a fat spliff too, and g...

You can get USB>MIDI interfaces cheap, so you can use MIDI gear through USB but MIDI data only, not sound. Cubase is pretty standard, but depending on your past experience, it could take a while to get your head around. Before buying a DAW as expensive as Cubase, to make sure that style of sequencer...

Yup, the Virus version is free. A lot of people have problems with it though for whatever compatibility reason (myself included) being that it hasn't been updated in ages, but there are some great alternatives. Post back if ya need help with it.

i think he put out a dubstep release on rephlex a few years ago - not by him though, some other peeps. aphex twin doesnt normally put out stuff thats part of a genre. i expect he would probably take some influence, but warp it to his own twisted vision. Rephlex released Grime and Grime 2 back in 20...

Definitely longer than 13 years man, probably closing in on 20! I have a couple from 1993. Their Basic Channel stuff is more techno, but their Rhythm & Sound project is especially amazing imo and is more reggae influenced of the 2 especially in the drum & vocal department. Check out "Wi...

There are MP3's higher than 320kbps, LAME can encode around double in fact, up to 600kbps+ which is similar to FLAC. However, you need a special plugin to decode these files, so they are definitely not compatible with 99% of mp3 players, and you can forget about playing them out with cd decks etc. I...
