Re: Birmingham UK Techno - production techniques?

yeah i seem to be getting along the right track, do tracks at 134-139BPM then by sampling old breaks and 90s hardcore records and then chopping it on my MPC3000 with some real 909 samples and programming a sequence on the mpc, but its just this rolling type of affect i cant seem to get. maybe this ...

Re: Sleeper - Untitled

Big tune.

Dig the subtle progression, especially the tone of the kickdrum.

Re: Random NEW House Songs Ur Feeling... Post Here

Is that a new Dense & Pika release?

First release was top notch, second was meh.
This one sounds good.

Re: Who to watch out for in 2013?

Quite a lot of moody "future garage" has been suggested. Some of it is decent while not even trying to be original, but it's not gonna blow up next year. That sound had it's chance about 2 years ago (?) and it never really made it even if it was pretty popular at some point. Burial was and still is ...

Re: New Joy O

Alright, scrap what I wrote earlier.
I just listened to old releases and his sound hasn't changed that much after all :cornlol:
Wade in/Jels was still a decent step away from the prior release.

Either way, this is better than most of his recent output. Excited to see what's on the flip.

Re: New Joy O

Nah, but I think it's great that he's changed that much since he became big, although I do not like all of his recent work. It would be very easy for him to just continue doing the same thing as Hyph Mngo etc. It would no doubt sell. Instead he just scrapped that and made something new (not really b...

Re: New Joy O

+1 on that.
It's not too hard to make a track more "emotive" by just slapping some clichéd pitched down 90's R&B vocal on top of your beat.

Re: Karenn - Sheworks 004

In what way are they lazy? Is it because you think they're repetitive?

Btw, "Clean it up" makes me think of old Downwards stuff, British Murder Boys and the like. Got the same maximized, aggressive, super distorted techno sound.

Re: New Joy O

What?
This is like the best from him in ages.
All the Boddika collabs are pretty meh.

This is cool and pretty fun even. Vocal is really good and the beat is just enough off-kilter with the drums and WOMP being slightly off.

Re: Techno & House Production Thread (Not for Feedback)

Put a distorter and compressor at the end of the signal chain, after all of the effects. Turn the threshold down low and drive it hard.
You may want to do some EQ afterwards to remove some of the lower mid frequencies.

Edit: Or just turn down everything else

Re: Vessel RA 327

Best mix I've heard in a very long time. Really takes you on a journey. Incredible mood and smart transitions between songs. That first Nylon Sunset release on Left Blank isn't really represent of what he is doing now. He's extremely diverse as a producer and most of his newer stuff is in the the sa...

Re: Pearson Sound - Clutch

Seems like he's heading towards a darker more experimental sound, partly inspired by techno - pretty much like everyone else from the "UK Bass" scene. More experimental sound? Have you ever even listened to any of his previous records? Here's a start: http://www.discogs.com/Ramadanman-Ramadanman-EP...

Yeah, massive love for the Croydon House release.
Would like to hear more dark 4x4 house/techno inspired stuff from him. He really nails the the proper sound and atmosphere.

Still think most tracks would benefit from not sounding so artificial or clean.

Re: Unknown - Unknown [Swamp81]

This label have been quite disappointing for a while now.
Feels like they just wanna bring out bangers and nothing of substance. Like said, this stuff ain't gonna age well.

Bangers are fine, but this is very close to being downright cheesy.
