Re: the techno thread
Those "Warehouse Session" mixes posted above are so great. Exactly the sound I dig. Thanks for sharing. RA best tracks of the year made me realize how much shit I sleep on. Barely recognized half of the names on that list. This track's fire: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SRDL8ZWJmk Dat 4...

Re: Birmingham UK Techno - production techniques?
yeah i seem to be getting along the right track, do tracks at 134-139BPM then by sampling old breaks and 90s hardcore records and then chopping it on my MPC3000 with some real 909 samples and programming a sequence on the mpc, but its just this rolling type of affect i cant seem to get. maybe this ...

Re: the techno thread
Haha! Blawan's style is so unique that it's too obvious when people imitate him. That first Clouds track is just like "I like 2-step, acid is kinda cool, and I also heard Blawan style techno is the shit nowadays... I'll make a track of the three". Is it just me or is the UK scene more susc...

Never ever wear chinos. Especially not with sneakers.

I have no idea how I didn't find out about Slovakia's techno scene earlier. There's some really good stuff from over there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIcOLkaWbCs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hbmTqnYJeg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CjG-BjTKbY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oFgm7d2yCo feat...

Big tune.
Dig the subtle progression, especially the tone of the kickdrum.

Is that a new Dense & Pika release?
First release was top notch, second was meh.
This one sounds good.

Those look like some horrible Etnies sneakers I had in the early 90's.

Re: What game are you playing?
Mofuckin counter-strike. Still easily the best game. Took me 5 minutes to find some good servers, after not playing for 2-3 years. Yeah, CS is still the shit. Pretty much only play that and sometimes COD4 and Battlefield 3 when I want something different. Playing on console though  (I know!)

Re: Who to watch out for in 2013?
Quite a lot of moody "future garage" has been suggested. Some of it is decent while not even trying to be original, but it's not gonna blow up next year. That sound had it's chance about 2 years ago (?) and it never really made it even if it was pretty popular at some point. Burial was and...

Re: WHAT SNEAKERS YOU WEARIN?
I think we'll leave the discussion about if they look here. You're not gonna change your mind nor am I. However, boat shoes are not dressy. They're casual shoes which some people mistake for being dressy solely for the fact that they're not sneakers. You wouldn't wear brown boat shoes in a strict of...

Re: WHAT SNEAKERS YOU WEARIN?
Boat shoes are the most horrible footwear there is, besides everest trek sneaker/boots and crocs. Prep style looks goofy as fuck, no matter what GQ has told you. Loafers can be ok if styled right, but that demands a lot from the wearer. If you got the steez and look baller, sure, otherwise they look...

Boat shoes? Loafers? For dressing up?!
Get a pair of derbys. Loads of goods ones out there but sanders, trickers, buttero, common projects, moma all make good ones that aren't too "old man"-ish.

Re: New Joy O
Alright, scrap what I wrote earlier.
I just listened to old releases and his sound hasn't changed that much after all
Wade in/Jels was still a decent step away from the prior release.
Either way, this is better than most of his recent output. Excited to see what's on the flip.

Re: New Joy O
Nah, but I think it's great that he's changed that much since he became big, although I do not like all of his recent work. It would be very easy for him to just continue doing the same thing as Hyph Mngo etc. It would no doubt sell. Instead he just scrapped that and made something new (not really b...
Re: New Joy O
+1 on that.
It's not too hard to make a track more "emotive" by just slapping some clichéd pitched down 90's R&B vocal on top of your beat.

In what way are they lazy? Is it because you think they're repetitive?
Btw, "Clean it up" makes me think of old Downwards stuff, British Murder Boys and the like. Got the same maximized, aggressive, super distorted techno sound.
