Re: I can't capture the right emotion

Switch drum kit, give it more focus. This current is too thin and not bassy enough. The high area of the drums is fine, so if you HP filtered it, remove it :) consider adding high hats, it does good for the groove and connects the BD to the snare and making it feel like a drum kit. Bass line as all ...

Re: how to properly bitcrush?

If its hard down-sampling, even the key is a matter, you should play and listen and adjust the amount, just don't follow any rules. Having ...

Re: Explosive/rev type synthesis question. please help!

but its the same effect for all the distortion layer bass... its not a reverb and it repeated on each bar after it. It caused by making a nice skrillex synth and pitch it up. bitcrusher, distortion, flanger, (2 different synths for left and right and slight difference) and etc. we can't teach you to...

Re: What gives a song it's "raw" energy?

Groove depended on sounds (synthesis, style, drumset) depends on mix (well balanced) depends on you. Thats what gives it it's energy. Rawness - good synthesis, depends on good distortion and FX depends on good mix but mostly - the groove. Rhythm (drums, baseline and rhythm section) and all the arran...

Re: Melodically complex dubstep.

The expected melodies and the mix \ drums makes it a bit 80's. When I spot these kind of bad properties on my music, I just start over. You know that thing that you have a bad kick sample, and you work so hard to make it pump. Then you just replace it, and its easier. and better. I'll say - try agai...
