Re: Biggest/Best Tunes of the Year So Far?
"All in all, a mediocre year for dubstep" Y'know, it has to be said as I was scanning my MP3 site of choice, I have to say I really noticed how... samey everything sounded. I love a bit of jump up, but the truly outstanding tracks were few and far between, the identikit mid range bass dirg...

Biggest/Best Tunes of the Year So Far?
'Sup everyone... Been an ages since I posted last, which is pretty much the reason why I'm posting now. I've spend the last 6 months or so setting myself up and sorting out a new career... it's not music related and as a result has meant I have had my head anywhere but on new tunes. Anyway, a friend...

Re: How to not piss off my neighbours? (isolating bass)
Stands will help, don't have the speakers touching solid floor or walls, and try and be reasonable... we all like to crank it once in a while (tinnitus being my proof of this) but sometimes it just isn't possible... I have two small daughters who go to bed early eve, and my studio is just down the h...

Re: A very unusual problem in Logic - please help
Is it just the channel you have selected? Try bringing up the mixer view, highlighting say 3 tracks, and hit play. Do they all dip to -26db? I have to admit, bar automation which you have ruled out (and wouldn't make any sense as automation wouldn't 'travel' depending on the track highlighted) I can...

Re: drums sounding robotic
Like everyone else said, it's not strictly placement that generates a groove, but small variations in the percussion also (although there are no rules to say kick and snare can't be altered, Kryptic Minds for instance usually tweak their snares to hit differently). You could hard quantise your beat ...

Re: Another Sub Problem!
Ok... These notes aren't 'duds', they are just basically too low to hear. There are certain notes that resonate more, it has a name but it escapes me now... Anyway, the 'human audio cut off' isn't as low as you would think. Guaranteed you would feel something on the right set up, but there is such a...

Depends how you feel about Soundcloud... I don't put my music up in the hope someone goes 'WOW I have to sign that', because that isn't going to happen. I am only just getting to the stage where I am happy with a couple bits I have done. But I have some friends who are interesting in what I am doing...

Re: Automation techniques, please help!
You should be able to draw in the automation, I have seen it done on several tut's. I don't use Ableton myself, but as far as I am aware, you open the automation lane, select the parameter and then 'draw in' the automation just like Logic or Cubase. Youtube 'dubstep bass Ableton' and it should show ...

Re: Your favourite tune that you have ever made
The Path, track in my sig. I'm still very much learning the ropes production-wise, and the mix down isn't perfect by a long way, but it was the first track I had made in ages after doing hard time in 16 bar limbo... I had an idea, and pretty much executed it. I think that was a bit of a watershed fo...

Re: Sub bass and mid range bass layering inquiry
Yeah I usually allow a bit of overlap between ranges, I usually use 24db for the roll off as I find that to be adequate. Again it can be subjective depending on the sound you are splitting, but the cuts don't have to be hard to be effective. You will soon know if the crossover is too much once you s...

Love Apparat, serious talent. Things to be Frickled is a good listen also. Haven't got round to purchasing Orchestra of Bubbles, must give that a listen. Moderat is sick also.

Re: Do you actually buy software?
When I first, first started dabbling, I had cracks given to me by a mate. They were shit, caused me no end of problems and I am sure contributed to my PC's demise. After that, I thought 'you know what, I am enjoying this, this is what I want to do', so I bought Cubase and Massive, then Kontakt a lit...

Re: Chase & Status remix comp
Sadly true. I used to love Chase and Status. I still have their first plates on vinyl. They were sick.Chase and Status made some alright beats back in the day but since 'More Than A Lot' they have been total shit
Now they do collab's with Cee Lo Green and Tinie Tempah.
WTF.
