yeah if your recording in from one of the existing tracks on a session you'll generally wanna turn the monitor setting off. in terms of what quality you should have set in the options, have it the highest your comp can handle.

interesting in knowing more about how yall write in session mode. do you do EVERYTHING in session view and mix down after you've recorded the entire tune? ( . personally i will do 80/90% of the track in clips view then when i have a rough idea of the structure i will record to the arrange page then...
