Make your own recordings and shape them into a snare like sound. Doesn't have to be an actual snare. Think beatboxers!
Hey presto, you'll have your own original sounding snares and who knows, people might want snare sounds like you one day! :D

I think it's bollox tbh And am with DZA. A tune battle should be called by a forum member when, as has happened recently, people have obvious beef with each other or when someone is giving shit to a forum member and gets the opportunity to put their monosynth where their mouth is.

Swing basically helps to give parts a more human feel so moves parts a little(or a lot) of the grid and make it feel less computerised.

Here's a great vid for helping you with your drums. It mightn't be your type of music but you hopefully get the idea.

Don't force the issue and wait 'till you're well rested and in a better state of mind. Also stick some unfinished tunes you have on your iPod/whatever and give em a few listens away from the studio and take notes on how you could make them into tunes, tweak and change stuff.
