what the fuck is 'clownstep'? you rail against genres making everything 'samey' but use the most obscure sub-sub-generic category you can find. Not really interested in entering this argument, but to be fair Clownstep is a pretty well known 'genre', albeit a rather disparaging name for what should ...

Because there are cookies and you don't have to log in every time you want to post. Dubplate.net was a waste forum. Yep, I reckon it's mostly an ergonomics issue. The dubplate.net forum was so horrible to use. I also think that since the site went down, a lot of people, both forum posters and lurke...

tho techically it's not half of 138 is it? because that would be a snare on the fourth. does that mean 'halfstep' is about 100 bpm ish? (ie between 70 and 138). Nope. The time signature is still 4/4 so it would def be 69bpm instead of 138. This won't change simply by moving the position of the snare.

i'm not even reading dubmugga's posts anymore Me too. You have an enormous chip on your shoulder about not having access to this tune or that tune or whatever. Paul & Farj from Moving Ninja in Oz seem to have linked with all the UK producers - their www.garagepressure.com always had upfront MP3s to...

This is simply what most producers and label owners do already by sharing MP3s and mailing CDs, isn't it? There's just no money changing hands - the music, and/or the exposure it gets when played out is the currency itself. All I see happening with some kind of members only filesharing service is a ...

reading all the events going in the uk/ireland, throwing a dubstep party on a friday night It's still hard mate. It's not a complete doddle to talk a club into taking dubstep on for a Friday nite - the music is completely unproven in almost every city outside of London, and has a microscopic scene ...

Frankly, I think this has been the year of DMZ. The label has blown up, the nite has blown up, the tunes are all huge.

For me they're only one part of the scene and music that I dig, but there's no denying their omnipresence in 2005.

Hot Flush are playing with SLT down at Noir in Bristol - on Friday 25th November. 90 minute sets as well instead of the usual hour.

If you need any more excuses to come down, the main room is Paradox live, Equinox & Chris Inperspective.

Phuturistix LP (Hospital) Would you really call this a classic Dubstep release Martin? Huge of fan of Zed Bias and in particular the Phuturistix stuff on Hospital though I am, I thought their LP was a bit of a let down. Yeh, couple of good tunes (e.g. Bad Mood), but nothing much to get excited abou...

There's been some mad sonic weapons over the years, from the British 'squawk box' to some rather nasty German-built inventions that never went past the prototype stage because they kept liquidising the operator's insides. I'm v interested in this sorta stuff, and on a wider scale Cymatics which is t...

Yeah I was/am a DnB head for about 11ish years now. Going back quite a way I used to put nites on and play out a lot, but dropped out of the scene a few years ago as I got bored of the music. In the last year or so there's a few records that have been flicking my switch - you just have to look in th...

Not pure dubstep but we're throwing a Hijack NYE bash @ a club called Timbuk2 - all the DJs will be from the local forum www.hijackbristol.co.uk (I'm one of the mods). There's a handful of dubstep DJs on the board so I imagine some will get dropped, but I imagine the music will be quite varied all n...
