Re: Totally uninspired

If I feel uninspired I take the simplest road and take a break. Sometimes when you're uninspired the best thing to do is stop pushing yourself. Get off the computer for a week or so. Walk your dog that's grown fat from neglect because instead of walking him you fed him less as this was preferred to ...

Re: I found the formula for finishing every song you start...

alternative solutions to the 'finishing a song conundrum,' as I like to call it, include: learn some theory... I say this because the majority of problems encountered in finishing a song aren't down to production tech, but are in fact down to a lack of music theory knowledge which prevents people fr...

Re: make lovely techno synth stabs i.e scuba, basic channel

only thing is you are instantly limiting yourself tonally and you will notice that a lot of those tracks that use that minor stack chord basically sound the same. it's a good thing to add to a tune sparsely in my opinion good luck! alternatively instead of limiting yourself you could make a major s...

Re: How to make ideas link together?

kaiori breathe is the best name ever I thought so too :) I was trying to think of a name and started going through aphex twin song names, found breathe, then typed in "japanese words" into a search engine and found something similar to the word kaiori that mean's artisan or something, i can't remem...

Re: Collabing

Since this has now officially turned into the "whoring yourself out for collaborations" thread I might as well throw myself out there, if anybody's interested then drop me a line either here or on soundcloud. :P

Also, dropbox is a fantastic tool if you don't have it get it.

Re: Dub production question

it would probs be easier to just sidechain it... Youtubes not available atm for me, so search 'luckydate videos sidechaining' or 'luckydate pump pulse video' if you get to luckydate's channel you'll find the video easy enough, his method of doing it is a bit awkward but it's the only way I currently...

Re: How to make ideas link together?

A good trick I like to use is to write out what I want my song to sound like first. So I do a sketch of the structure. It tends to look like this: Intro (24 bars with 8 bar build)| Theme 1 (32 bars) | breakdown (16 bars) | Theme 1 (32 bars)| Theme 2 | outro ---------------------------------------|--...

I've heard tracks like this referred to as 'liquid dub-step' or 'melodic dub-step' before, I doubt they're real terms but that's what I think of when I see tracks like this.

Re: What is

Your opinion on my new song. is this considered dubstep? Im also interested in some critique. 320s if you want em :D http://soundcloud.com/djtrainwreck/release-me In terms of what you're doing rhymically in the drums and melodically I'd classify this as dubstep, there's a definite reggae feel at ti...

Sounds good production wise to me, although I should say I'm pretty new to producing dub myself so I don't know how valid that statement is, lol, but I think it's pretty solid.

Heartbeats - a melodic dubstep track

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to these forums and to dubstep really. This track was my first attempt at dubstep. I wanted to make something melodic that still stayed true to the dubstep sound. I don't know if I really succeeded but I am pretty happy with what came out - i think lol. Anyway, I'd love to k...
