Re: Painted Backwards - Kaiori Breathe

Cheers man, thanks for the thoughts. Glad you like it. Since you asked; the synth I used for most of those pads was sytrus, with some layers done up on FM8 and a couple of absynth presets (yea, ino, presets are bad, but if the sound you want already exists why make it again yourself?). And, the intr...

Re: Putting an eq on the master channel

Ask and see. I don't know how much of a difference it'll make to whoever is mastering, but even from a logical perspective you should try to reduce the amount you've got going on your master channel as much as you can. No tweak you make on the master is ever going to be fully appropriate to all the ...

Re: Affordable Field Recorders

Thread is relevant to my interests. Kinda tired of hunting for obscure samples like 'chunky raindrops on a metal sheet' online for hours on end. Field recording equipment would be handy.

Re: How do I make this sound!?

Re: anyone here Copyright law savvy? $150,000 fine threat

Pro tip: They could have easily been polite and asked you not to release it in diplomatic terms, instead they threatened you with legal action, with that in mind I wouldn't tell anybody what band it was, no matter how many people ask, don't reward that kind of in your face attitude by giving them at...

Re: This Snare

To me it sounds like a pretty standard white noise snare, 808/909...etc, with an electric tom - with it's high end cut - layered under and the whole thing eq'd to give lots of punch in the low end. yeah i guessed it was standard drum machine sounds, it was getting the right combination is what's ki...

Re: Musicianship and lifestyle

tbh, it seems that when I cram my timetable most and make the least time for music that I write the most. When I was unemployed a while back I had all day everyday to sit around and write tunes and i wrote fuck all because the lack of a structured day just breeds laziness and inactivity. When I cram...

Re: Prior knowledge/raw skill/intelligence/what?

Practice. That's all. You don't need anything else. You can have a hideously low aptitude for understanding and utilizing musical concepts and an equally low ability to grasp new ideas with regards to producing and ultimately it won't matter if you put the hours in. You could be tone deaf with the I...
