Re: Fabfilter Saturn

I think it's a seriously powerful tool. You can split the frequencies up into multiple bands, automate pretty much everything, change the dynamics on each band, process just the mid or side, there's so much possibility it'd take months to explore it fully. I mostly use it for basic stuff, just multi...

Re: problem with massive

D. hit up native instruments support but ive had problems with them getting back to me in the past Me too - I wrote a big long email detailing everything I had tried and exactly what problems I was having. After a few days I received a standard template email telling me to update to the latest driv...

I recommend Diva, it's great fun and has new modules coming out in about a month. Although you need a phat CPU to run it.

I have no further comments on discussions like this - after all, why ruin a good debate with facts? This type of thread will never die, and the claims get more and more outlandish - mp3 bad for the environment? Lol!

Re: How Do I Make My Sub Bass Wobble???

again and again, you think I'm giving out advice.... when I'm not. Really? In my experience LFO on volume sounds weak (for wobbles) and to be honest I've never heard anyone talk about LFO on volume. Only heard (again, for wobbles) of LFO on filter cutoff (ie pitch). But I'm not saying it doesn't wo...

Re: How Do I Make My Sub Bass Wobble???

alright VirtualMark, I'm sorry. in practice, not knowing the difference between frequency and pitch isn't the end of the world. you love showing off your superior theoretical music theory knowledge and your parents probably bought you piano lessons from the time you were 3 years old. not all of us ...

Re: Hardware vs. Software

I've given this more thought and i still think you're wrong. THe sampling theorem only talks about the sampling frequency, but not the sampling values. Since those values are limited in digital audio (the bit depth), the wave will NOT be represented perfectly, right? Wrong, the error is so tiny it'...

Re: How Do I Make My Sub Bass Wobble???

filter cutoff isn't the pitch filter cutoff is a frequency. frequency is a pitch. i suppose that is different from modulating the pitch parameter itself with an LFO, which is possibly the source of this confusion? but the filter is cutoff at a certain frequency, and therefore at a certain pitch. th...

I don't understand why everyone is trolling. Claudedefaren is right - a lot of EDM does rely on build ups and heavy drops.

Re: How Do I Make My Sub Bass Wobble???

Mostly volume automation, but sometimes pitch too. You don't want a lot of processing on sub bass, personally I like to just duplicate the mid bass and turn everything off and switch the oscillators to a sine. Then just put the same lfo mods to volume instead of filter or whatever. That way it follo...

Re: distortion that preserves dynamics?

Multiband stuff like Fabfilter Saturn has a dynamics control on it. And of course you can always distort in parallel, so that you keep a lot of the dynamics.

The upgrades are free so it doesn't matter! You'll get them either way. Thanks for your comments, I appreciate the feedback. I only used Diva in that tune for the chords in the intro(not the arp), the basses are all FM8 and Massive. I don't use it on everything, but it's great for some sounds and tb...

I love it! If you want an analog sound from your PC it's the best one going imo. Although it's VERY CPU intensive. Literally one instance kills my old Core 2 Duo laptop, although my i7 runs it ok.

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!

Udyret - I know how you feel! I listen to some tracks and just think they sound good, so it's hard to say how to improve them. TBH your tune isn't bad for a first attempt. My main advice would be to keep at it, you'll notice yourself improving when you compare newer tunes with old ones. I listen to ...

@virtualmark – I'm digging those crispy claps. Your vocals are sweet. I'm curious, how'd you get that set up? Someone you know lay down some verses for you? Regardless, I'm digging this track, it's got a good, kind of "earlier" (less progressively wild I guess) dubstep feel to it. Reminds me of Flu...

Re: White Noise applications in music

I think it can be useful in synths when you're using filter sweeps a lot. Such as notch filtering - it makes the notching more audible if you add a tiny bit of white noise.
