Re: Looking to get into FM synthesis.

Fl seems to be like some kind of home garage project for some reason. Is that just me? Without downloading custom skins, it actually looks pretty shit in my opinion :) Can't really say anything about stock plugins, because I was usually using stuff from Waves/Native Instruments/Rob Papen/Sugarbyte/...

Re: For the love of Albino

Used Rob Papen stuff (including Albino) a lot when I was on FL. Eventually, I moved to Reason and haven't been using VSTs ever since. Still I'd prefer Blue over Albino. I always found albino quite soft and gentile. never really got anything thumping or gritty from it. Can't remember for sure, but I ...

Re: Snare tips

About those 150-250Hz snares… I usually layer 909 with high passed acoustic snare and something with snappy transient. Instead of adding shit loads of eq boosts and compression, I prefer making sharp cuts around the fundamental frequency to take off most of the useless stuff that just mask the real ...

Re: I'd consider this sound design...

Stop wasting time synthesizing drums when there are shitloads of free ones fucking everywhere. Go make music for Christ's sake. There's nothing wrong with synthesizing your own drums. Yeah but it always goes like this: 1. Me thinking I should finally make a good track. 2. Me staring out with drums....

I have been thinking.. What would EDM be if Native Instruments would never been in existence?

At least with shit loads of frequency splitting that would be possible.

Re: Tempo vs "Fillieness"

^ For example, some additional hi-hats between kick and snare could give more filled out vibe to 140bpm section without radically changing the drum pattern.

Re: Best reverb rack extension for Reason?

The TSAR-1 reverb is pretty nice, I'd recommend it. It compliments the RV7000 quite nicely. Between the two you have a lot of soundscape potential. Yea I just downloaded the demo version (didn't notice this possibility before :u: ) Sounds great indeed, gonna check Rob Papen's verb plugin too Then a...

Re: Why do people hate Skrillex, but not Noisia?

Noisia: Very harsh (at least nowadays), unique sound design and in my opinion maybe the best production quality in brostep scene.

Skrillex: If I had to choose, i would still rather listen to him than Chris Brown, or Justin Bieber lol.

Re: The Reese Bass Thread

Im no any expert in this stuff but can still give a few tips: 1. At least for me, MIDI controller with knobs really helps you to automate stuff. Just link cutoffs/lfos/resonance/wt-position/stereo width etc. to controller and mess around with the knobs while playing the track. Record whole automatio...

Re: The Reese Bass Thread

*million of images* Simply automate band 5 and 6 with band 5 always being slightly higher than band 6 but following the same pattern. This got me the reesey style of movement. If you need anymore help just ask:) Fuck man that shit is so aggressive I love it haha good shit man I plan on using this a...

Re: Drums and Bass - Volume and Frequency question...

My question is; what vst can maintain the volume of each note, not allowing them to go quieter or louder. (And keeping them all in 1 channel.) Because it all together sounds very muddy to me, and I'm using CS40s headphones with a frequency range between 20hz -20khz. It doesn't sound good like most ...

Re: What do you treat your wobble with?

Haha, samplers honestly. Once you get a little movement you're happy with alot of people stick their sound in a sampler, with A LOT of things automating at the same time over a long ass time (like 64 bars open to close), and they cut out interesting snippets to use later. Rinse and repeat till you ...
