Re: Name the drum sample used? (Netsky - I refuse)

http://www.blumarten.com/free-stuff/junglejungle/ - That break is for sure in hear, so is the break from Square Pushers Come On My Selector. Yep, that's all breaks I have and I'm now 99% sure it's "Trippin Break 2" sliced up, rearranged and processed, maybe layered too.. https://soundcloud.com/rand...

Then there's talk about how Netsky went shit after he started making tracks that have real structure and progression. :?

Re: fisticuffs

You imagine people destroyed blood exploding face to fist, but it's more a nervous circling, a few swings and if noone connects a grapple that goes to the ground rolling round like idiots, asses on show while onlookers gawp and someone shouts "the police are on the way". ^This pretty much. If someb...

Re: Drum Samples VS Synthesis

I do both, but if I had to choose, it would be samples. Unless they invent a synth that really sounds like an acoustic drum, I can't figure how I could deal with only using synthesized drums. I would need to probably switch into minimal house & techno or something.

Re: How to get motivated/excited about production again?

I get this same feeling every time when I for XXXth time scrap my current project because I decided it sounds like shit. Can't help you tho, for me, it's just an addiction to start making some stuff even when I know that 98% of it never gets finished.

Sliced breaks, can't say which one, but I'm sure as shit I've heard same sounding kicks when scrolling through breaks I have.

Lol I actually read that already, but without paying attention to this part: "It's doing that (making signals above a threshold quieter) but then also upwards making signals below a threshold louder (signal below ~-40 dB will get louder, but this boost is capped to +36 dB so you hopefully don't hear...

I've been using this sort of pad (mine just looks like shit) under my last 3 laptops, 1 being mac, 2 being PCs, no cooling problems with any. :D

Sylenth Pendulum/Knife Party use Sylenth a lot, I wouldn't be actually surprised at all if Sylenth is exactly where the sound came from if it's truly just saws & squares and triangles. Found another one btw, dubstep this time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_c6iYslKfs 0:55 -> This sounds much mor...

Re: Old MUST DIE! Tutorials?

It's an awesome preset for multiband in ableton, so its a go-to setting for a starting point. Xfer created a free plugin that is supposed to mimic it, but I don't have any experience with it. Hope that helps. Thanks man! Yeah I've read that multiband comp in Ableton has some "OTT" setting/preset. I...

Re: Are Macs actually better than PC's?

It also depends on what are you missing (if anything). Logic Pro X is cheap as fuck (180€/$ or something) considering how much quality stuff you get for your money. I started to feel absolutely shit when I remembered how I paid 350€ for Reason. DJs prefer MacBooks for reliability. If you're aiming f...

Bit off-topic, but anyways, can someone briefly explain OTT compression to me? Is it just some fancy new term for MB-compression or what?

Re: Quickly Make Your Own Presets Or Maticulously Automate E

I'm not sure what you're asking either.. Do mean that do others prefer to spend less time on individual sounds to get stuff together faster? Or do people spend ages on fine tuning their patches, with the cost of it taking more time to get the track built up? If this is the case, for me it depends on...

^Thanks for advice man. I figured out that Glitch Mob one has some weird distortion on it. One thing that came to my mind would be that they made the basic lead with some FM synth like FM8 and that screechy, distorted quality comes from adding just a bit of modulation to it idk. That Pendulum one go...

Processing acoustic guitar samples is another thing: Dry acoustic guitar playing some chords: https://soundcloud.com/randomshit1234-1/gtr-example-dry + "Hi-Drive" pedal from Pedalboard. https://soundcloud.com/randomshit1234-1/gtr-example-pboard + 2 EQs, overdrive, more EQ and slight compression. htt...

Re: A very different Question (Guitars)

To my understanding, guitars are one of the hardest things to "replace" with software. Nothing beats the real guitarist, and from what I've read, even people like Pendulum who were like 90% software, still used mostly real amps instead of software amps because the sound is different. Considering how...
