Re: Clear mix?

You are on the right track with wanting a cleaner mix but the honest truth is that to achieve it, the summation of good mixing techniques is required. The answer is something you have to find with experience. When you mix better, your tracks will become cleaner and more refined. A big factor is soun...

Re: New Skrillex "Phaser"y growl

I don't see any hint of that attitude in his post. I took it as he understood the basics behind the growl style, not how to exactly reproduce the sound. FM synthesis has so many possibilities I don't think anyone can reproduce a sound exactly without the actual patch.

FM8 into Ohmicide then formant shifted with Melodyne. I can provide more details upon request.
I can't listen right now but I like your Melodyne idea. I have always been a little curious about what would happen if you formant shift a synth with it.

Re: Creative Sub Bass Processing

plain sub basses are boring imo layer that shit up, and mix it right, and it will sound good I am not trying to be mean in any way here but I have to call you out on this comment. As boring as it sounds, a pure waveform is all you need. Any other content that you might get by processing a sub is pr...

Re: Creative Sub Bass Processing

If you load up a pro track and start cutting with an eq, you will find that you don't loose much of the mid-bass sounds until you start cutting into 200-250hz range. I haven't read anything official but I think that it is just a standard practice to set a track up like this for the brostep style. I...

Re: New Skrillex "Phaser"y growl

Ah ok. I forgot that track existed and I thought growls were starting to get regional names...you know...east coast growls are cooler than west coast growls... :corntard: I know what you mean about that smoothness. I have a hard on over the Immunity growl...it has that same kind of shimmery phaser s...

Re: Massive in Dubstep

-Your boy Skrillex uses mostly FM8 and has said in one of his interviews that the most of sounds which people think were made in Massive, he made in FM8 So...I didn't want to bring it up but this ties up this troll of a thread. If you dig waaaaay back, Skrillex said that he used Ableton's operator ...

Re: Redux

So it would down sample from an export setting? ...like if you were working in 32bit but exported to 16bit, it would downsample from 16 instead?

Re: Redux

Yeah I would guess that it would be something to do with converting the audio to some lower quality when you export...no clue why though. I don't know how redux works exactly. It might be something like the vinyl effect...I don't quite understand how it works either but it seems to operate on it's o...

Banesy - Must Die! - Gem Shards (Banesy Bootleg Pac-Man Mix)

Ok dudes...this is my first remix where I grabbed a pro track and messed around with it. I am pretty happy with how it turned out. I would love to hear people's feedback. Thank!

Re: Mastering, crackles after export (crying for answers)

Haha you have 420 followers. Umm….yeah…I have been curious about using soft clippers instead of limiters. In Ableton, the new glue compressor has a clipper option and I have been experimenting with that a bit by ending my FX chains with it and enabling the soft clipping. I am curious in what context...

Re: multi-vowel growl basses?

That is a cool growl in that link. Yours actually sounds pretty close for the core patch but you are definitely missing that sloshy character. I think what you are hearing is movement of the core patch but then movement and a lot of movement of the FX and that is what is causing that dual vowel thin...

Re: Creative Sub Bass Processing

I don't get why people make a 'bass' then add a 'sub' of just a sine underneath, why not just make one thing at a suitable level in the first place? Here are some reasons that I can see just from experience. This is relative to the brostep style...I am not sure how you want to tackle a sub on wobbl...

Re: Zomboy Sound Design....Similar. NOT THE SAME.

I think the only thing similar to terror squad is that it has the same or a similar envelope for the vowel shape. I haven't tried to re-create it but I would personally start with a common growl patch in Massive and mess around with the oscillators like the F-square and put it in spectrum mode. Mass...
