I usually wear some sort of protection when i go to loud clubs/concerts - but my main worry is from my monitors, does anybody know anything about hearing loss do to too much studio time?

Can periodic hearing loss occur?
So, my question is pretty much the title - and furthermore does one's hearing regain after a period of exposure to loud sounds? I feel that my hearing has been lowered significantly after a summer of production, mixing, gigs and parties - so this one is kind of bumming me out at the moment.
