Re: The DIY Synth/FX/Stuff thread ... =)

Yeah both the calrec and filtrex would run me around €400. The filtrex being a bit cheaper. I chose the calrec cuz i'd rather have an eq as its more versatile than the filtrex. Both are pretty straight forward builds. Congrats with your dad and son. Yeah that counts too  Nice, sounds like good ...

Re: EQ question

Linear phase EQ, which has other drawbacks such as pre-echo or pre-ringing. Minimum phase eqs only have post-ringing which is masked by the singnal it self and therefore less noticable. This article (with video) explains the difference between minimum phase and linear phase eqs. This one is about EQ...

Re: EQ question

Attenuating a frequency causes a phase shift of other frequencies which can lead to a higher peak value.

Re: The DIY Synth/FX/Stuff thread ... =)

I'm pretty much hooked on DIY since I began with the SSL. Although I'm very happy it's finished, I'm a bit bummed as the building is half the fun. It's itching to start a new project. I narrowed it down to a dual Calrec PQ1549 or a Stereo Filtrex for my next build. Unfortunately i'm not swimming in ...

Re: The DIY Synth/FX/Stuff thread ... =)

Thanks guys, very happy with the rusult.

@alphacat: nice, think i'll be getting that, thanks for the heads up!

@test recordings: it's from schaeffer, wasn't cheap, €80 incl. postage. Heard good things about frontpanels.de, which i'll try the next time I need one done.

Apparently there is a UK distributor, http://www.handinhand.uk.net/, but they are going for £349 a pop.

Nice paradigm, the filter sounds great! Looking forward to seeing it fully integrated in the tape deck.

Re: Equator D5 Monitors - High End on a Budget

Concerning the interface, might be worth looking for a second hand fireface 400 (FW) or UC (USB). Great converters, very stable, super low latency and a decent amount of I/O.

Re: Adam's stereolink system

From what I understand, mind I don't have Adam's nor the TC, the stereo link indeed only works with the RCA connections (you'll need 3 rca cables), which are unbalanced. Imo the noise reduction you'll get with proper gain staging is negligible compared to the noise reduction you'll get from using th...

Re: The DIY Synth/FX/Stuff thread ... =)

Lunettas are kind of fun screechy noise boxes but not really a 'synth' in the traditional sense. Those tiny ones are just pre-arranged lunetta 'modules' but you can make the same ones on perf/stripboard. Bloke called nathanxl does amazing little sculptures from components without using circuit boar...

Re: The DIY Synth/FX/Stuff thread ... =)

Interesting. I'm wondering how it's controlled, those pcb are very small, from what I see there wont be any pots on the modules. Same goes for the patching. Would like to see/hear it in action, but it seems like a steal at the mentioned price point.

Made some progress, dummy front panel for now. Made a short example of drums through it:

http://ongelegen.com/gssl.wav 4 bars dry followed by 4 bars compressed, then repeated.

Re: How Can I Sell My NI Massive License Safely ?

Also, a thought, have a friend or parent sign up for an NI account, transfer it the license. Test run! I wouldn't to this, not sure what NI's policy is on this, but with alot of plugins the license becomes NFR (not for resale) after the first transfer, so you wouldn't be able to sell/transfer it ag...
