I can't speak for this particular controller, but I've had bad experiences in the past with really cheap midi keyboards (like evolution). I've also had periods when I didn't have a midi controller, and while some people may disagree, I don't think a midi keyboard is essential when you start out. A l...

I'm not sure I understand. You can't really use it for note triggers, because its not velocity sensitive, and if you want it for mutes or pattern triggers or something, can't your host handle it already, without MIDI?

I don't know if this is on any of the sites linked from this thread, but: If you don't use your soundcard's record inputs you can disable them, which should save some CPU. I very rarely use mine, so I have them off by default, and only turn them on when I'm using them. I remember that this used to m...

I like short songs, they definitely have that reload factor. Look at the Pixies, great band, no song over 2 minutes 30. I remember an interview with Mike Patton where he was said that a song should start, say what it has to say, and then stop. If your tunes are that length, then they are that length...

The nanopad looks like the one for me. I picked up an EMU X-board for 50 quid so I already have the keys and knobs (plus a fader). I find it interesting that the nanokontrol has nine faders/knobs, not eight :?

Good idea for a poll, but you should include an option for classical music or Jazz. I learnt about the more traditional music styles before I ever got into rock or electronic music.

Spelt is fine. Spelt and spelled can be used in both the past and perfect tenses:

See: http://www.bartleby.com/64/C001/067.html

Normally I hold the spelling and grammar on dubstep forum in such high regard  .

Charging for multi-tracks is more than a little greedy, and Radiohead owns the rights to any work you submit :o Check out http://remix.nin.com Lots of free multi tracks for nin and some Saul Williams as well, plus a cool site to upload your remix or listen to others. I think it's all released under ...

I asked this question a while back here: http://dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=40913 Other people seem to like the m-audio audiophile 24/96.I just bought the fast track usb, very cheap and ok quality for what I do with it. Getting low latencies is also related to how fast your computer is, and how...

That's great! had me proper nodding along :D I think if there is one thing you could do it's add a bit more bite to the main bass sound after the second drop, and maybe strip the rest of the tune back for a few bars, to give that "If you thought it was big before, now it's gonna eat your face&q...

I just bought some ultrasone 750's the other day, and I can attest that they are indeed the shit. I also have to keep the noise down, and with headphones you don't have to worry about that acoustic standing-wave malarky :D

Low latency USB soundcard

Hi, I'm looking for a cheap(ish) USB soundcard with really low latency. I have a decent soundcard (Yamaha DSP factory) for mixdowns but the drivers are, to be frank, absolute wank. I need a second card with low latency for playing VSTis and maybe recording the odd distorted guitar or guide vocal whi...
