Re: time stretching
I forget to mention, "spear". Which is a freeware program. You can select the frequencies you want and only time stretch them if you wanted, its pretty cool. Also.... what sort of max/patch do u have and how do u use it? Its just based on granular synthesis, turning the sound into little g...

Just thought id say to any LEGAL live users that there giving away there puremagnetiks retro synths pack.
Looks pretty cool, 2.2gb of free top quality samples that work like real instruments. Sounds quite interesting as i aint looked into these packs yet.

Re: Album Writing
I plan on writing an album in a few years, I had the idea of making one while on holiday on the Isles of Scilly which is few islands 20miles off the the tip off cornwall. I loved all the sounds there and thought it would be cool to go over for a few weeks, record sounds and then come back and write ...

Re: time stretching
Ableton's time stretching is some of the best ive come across, thats what i use.
I also have a max/msp patch I can run thing in and time stretch in different and more elaborate ways.
Paul stretch is a cool program aswell, ive had fun with that and made sounds last for milleniums

Re: How Do I Layer a Good Dubstep Track?
Look into music theory a little bit, it helped me loads.
Get a midi keyboard and play around with scales/chords.
Write a piece of music that only uses pads and melodic elements like Ambient and you'll learn lots.

Ive been working on a track most of this weekend, also went on a picnic with family and sat on hill that supposedly a giant lived on and was then chucking bolders at another giant on st.michael's mount which can been seen from the hill I was sat on.
