[Tutorial] Recording audio off of YouTube

A mate of mine was stuck at his Mum's house for a few days and wanted to collect some samples without having to install any new software on her laptop. I wrote him this little guide on how to do it, using standard software that comes bundled. Recording Audio Off YouTube - Right click on the volume ...

Re: converting to 320 mp3s

Whenever I export my tune from reason, if i set the sample rate to anything higher than the default, or the bit rate to 24, I cannot then turn the wav file created into an mp3. what programs are you lot using to do this? It's irritati...

Film samples - are they overused?

Looking beyond the obvious Scarface samples and whatnot, are the use of film samples in Dubstep a bit past it now, or do you think there are still creative ways of using them without being clichéd?

Never had a problem with it myself - both Fruity and Cubase detected it straight away :| Maybe its just me then but while were on this subject, i have this keyboard and all i want to know is how to record what u punch in on th...

Re: Equipment Recommendation Thread?

I did a search and couldn't find one that covered a broad range of equipment. Maybe with the number of threads being made it's a good idea? I was thinking a thread with sections with suggestions for midi controllers, amps, monitors, mixers, ect. of varying price ranges? Not necessarily links to pla...

If it's more beats and melodies, I'd recommend setting up a simple kit and a basic synth and maybe a sub to start with. This way you can get that part of the idea down and work on the sounds later. ^^ What he said I've got a basic template saved in Cubase ("wub_1") with a copy of Battery ...

FWIW the original breaks were NOT recorded w/ low fidelity, they were recorded on the state-of-the-art equipment for the time. badass drummers, experienced engineers, neumann mic's, amek desks and 1/4" tape (and, in the case of the meters, an 1176) are NOT lo-fi in the least. different from to...

Once you've got your break nailed, setup an 8 bar loop and record it

Now, record the same 8 bar loop at 200% speed

Then record it again at 50% speed.

Then chop and change the three loops together to create some glitched out combinations.

Rinse and repeat.....

Re: Korg Kaossilator

What do you think? It's a toy. Only if you treat it like a toy. I think the fact it lacks MIDI capabilities does limit it somewhat, especially in a live setup, but as a production tool it could be invaluable. The main thing IMO is that it can be run off batteries. This means you could, in theory, t...
