a couple of years ago there was a FWD night/podcast where kode9 played mala's bury the bwoy and crazy d said 'this one the wonky donkey.' a while after that it started being used to describe off-kilter or experimental tunes, tracks with galloping kicks, etc. not sure how direct the connection is but...

Wookie i hear less influence taken, because his raw, crashing drum-break sound didnt really get used so much later. early skream and benga stuff was really clipped, percussion wise. "Red" seemed to have a far larger influence on their early sound. yeah menta/artwork in general seems to be...
