Re: I'm hearing this alot latley in wobbles (fm synthesis)

wish i understood FM synthesis... how did all of you learn it? heh if you have basic understanding of subtractive synthesis, oscilators, filters, envelopes and lfo`s, you dont have to respect fm so much. You can use fm8 and sytrus like regular synths and when you need something extra then you modul...

Re: Essential Vst's?

Hamvst and DUBTURBO are definitely essential, at least they are for me. Skrillex and Flux Pavillion use them and they are the two most popular "dubstep" producers today. You can be as good as them in like a month if you put in enough work. hilarious! one of the funniest posts I`ve seen on...

Re: Massive vs. Albino

alchemy is great and gives you a lot of synthesis capabilities...a bit too much. You have to know what you want from it and not stray away from your goal. A bit harder to learn just cause it has so much capabilities. Massive is faster to work with, has a better overview and is easier to program. Muc...

Re: POGO Tutorial Video

i did it with tapes too when I started working on the radio. the trick was to have a good memory, something like a mind clipboard, you remember the bit that you like and continue to listen for the other bit that would fit. You might hear "angina" and the continue searching for a word with ...

Re: POGO Tutorial Video

cassetteboy is basically just editing audio. Its just a matter of placing one word or syllable instead of the other, you just have to use your ears and have a twisted sense of humour. The technique is no different then editing speach for radio. One bit of his that I cant forget is bowie`s space oddi...

Re: Resampling Tutorial

There`s good stuff to get from resampling. I personally am not so much into it cause i think it takes a bit of practice to know what you want and what you cant get from resampling. If you just bounce your reece and throw a bunch of phasers, flangers and distortions on it and expect miracles you`re go...

Re: Tips on being more creative?

Grab an album out of your parents collection that you've never listened to before. Listen to it all the way through. Sample it, taking at least one element from each track on the album. Attempt to make a tune out of just those samples and nothing else. this is a good advice, restricting yourself to...

Just right click it and hit "create automation clip". Boom! problem solved! Absolutely avoid creating notes in the piano roll, its just a mess then.

Re: Fl studio increase speed/retrigger and pitch changes

yes, for speed/retrigger and pitch changes automation is best, just right click the speed/retrigger knob or pitch change knob and hit "create clip". For mastering just slap on soundgoodizer and multiband compressor and choose from presets. its that simple.

Re: Electronic Music Theory?

basically for dubstep there`s just a few basic stuff to know as far as music theory is concerned. YOu can write in google search "basic chord progressions" write a few of them down in piano roll, then use arpeggiator and its chop templates and move around notes you dont want to get close t...

Re: Bassline Layers

i take it you have a synth dedicated to basslines and wobbles (like massive) and a folder of bassline presets. YOu can change presets while your midi track plays them, and keep the sounds you like with bouncing. For example you have a preset that sounds good leading to the snare but later it doesnt ...

You can make your own chop patterns, add swing, velocity variations and then just lay down one note and then select from the presets... speeds up workflow tremendously.

Does every thread have to degenerate into the same argument every time? yes. the message "be unique" is being spread around too little. The goal is that for every "how do I sound like someone else" you counter with a deep message about how being unique is vastly more important b...
