Re: Is this even possible?

what db levels do the bands have to be at? Whatever my gates are set at. Obviously it can't be perfect, but it should be just enough so that each band isn't leaking and triggering other bands gates. This is surprisingly more difficult than I though. The plan was to be able to control the 6 tracks v...

Re: Potluck Sample Contest (Sign up now!)

on one hand the more samples you allow to be used in the pack for the competition, the more entries will sound like whatever they were producing that day instead of an actual sample flipping challenge...

on the other hand, I love downloading samples.

Is this even possible?

I'm trying to create a 6 band frequency splitter wherein each band controls a side-chained gate on 6 different tracks. No matter how steep I make the filters poles, theres bleed-through even on the highest frequency bands from the lowest. This was expected but I didn't expect it to be as big of a wr...

Re: AKG 240's

and as far as the need for a pre-amp goes: wouldnt your audio interface work as an amp device for your headphones? yea I don't quite get that either. But my soundcard is also a hardware sampler with the ability to boost the internal dB levels so I don't think I need a pre-amp. Unless theres some ot...

The whole UI better be customizable. I'll die before I use a program with a browser on the right side. PREPOSTEROUS!

Yea after seeing a list of cool features, this video was definitely a reality check.

Cool. I don't need anything ridiculous, and the Sennheisers seem to have a terrible price>quality ratio, at least in the $100 range

Re: Thinking out loud...

I've mused on the guitar. I would completely leave it out of electronic music. It just brings way to much baggage with it. People just start listening to the guitar. Then you've got ANOTHER guitar song on your hands. I think sampling riffs for hip hop beat production still works though. And you don...

Re: Thinking out loud...

So I've been trying to incorporate my guitar into productions lately, but the issue I've always run into is this: As soon as people recognize a guitar, or a lead guitar anyway, their expectations of that guitar players ability shoot through the roof exponentially, as opposed to being okay with a pro...

AKG 240's

My headphones are kaput, so now I'm forced to use garbage ones I bought for $10 a decade ago and my mixes are getting extraordinarily bad for it. It doesn't help that the acoustics in the room is basically landmines of random bassy resonance.

I'm looking at the AKG k240. Any experience with them?

Re: Heads up, Free synth on the 21st

This thing sounds pretty good. Lots of useful neutral presets too.

The way the knobs are controlled by a mouse is pretty outdated, but for free this thing is awesome quality. Much better when I actually hooked it up with some modwheel/pitchbend action.
